Teachers have not received maternity benefits because the school owes social insurance
Ban Mai Kindergarten (Thanh Sen ward, Ha Tinh province) is late in paying social insurance for 11 months with an amount of more than 262 million VND, causing some teachers to take maternity leave without being granted maternity benefits.
On October 30th, Ms. N.T. B.L (28 years old), a teacher at Ban Mai Kindergarten (No. 105 Trung Tiet Street, Thanh Sen Ward) - said that she has worked at the school for 7 years.
According to Ms. L, in October 2025, she took maternity leave. In June 2026, after the maternity leave period expired, she returned to teaching. However, because the school is owing social insurance, she has not yet received maternity benefits.
During the maternity leave, Ms. L was given an advance of 10 million VND by the school to cover family living expenses. According to Ms. L, in case of additional advances, the school will resolve to advance a maximum of 25 million VND.
Ms. L said that the school board has discussed with teachers about the school's financial difficulties, so it cannot fully pay social insurance for employees. The school also promised to try to complete social insurance contributions this year.
My wish is for the school to soon fully pay social insurance so that I and my colleagues can ensure their rights according to regulations," Ms. L shared.
Not only Ms. L, another teacher at Ban Mai Kindergarten also just took maternity leave but has not received maternity benefits because the school is late in paying social insurance.
According to the Vice Principal of Ban Mai Kindergarten, the school has its main campus at 105 Trung Tiet street and a group of classes in alley 27 Nguyen Huy Tu street, both belonging to Thanh Sen ward. Currently, the school has 25 officials, teachers, staff and 154 students.
When reporters asked about the situation of social insurance debt, the Vice Principal requested to contact the Principal for information.
Reporters then contacted Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan - Principal of Ban Mai Kindergarten to learn about the late payment of social insurance for employees. However, Ms. Hoan said that she was on a long business trip, refused to provide information by phone and promised to discuss it after returning.
