Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh re-elected Chairman of the Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations
Dong Thap - Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh re-elected as Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Dong Thap province term I, term 2026 - 2031.
On October 20, the 1st Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations took place in My Tho ward. Attending were Mr. Dong Huy Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Mr. Dinh Van Dung - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives of leaders of departments, agencies, branches, and mass organizations.
The Congress unified the Executive Committee of the Union of Friendship Organizations of the province, term I, including 39 members, the Standing Committee with 7 members and the Inspection Committee with 3 members; at the same time, elected 37 members of the Executive Committee. Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh was re-elected as Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Dong Thap province, term I, term 2026 - 2031; Mr. Vo Tan Dong Phuong was elected as Vice Chairman; currently missing a position of Vice Chairman.
According to the report at the Congress, in the period 2021 - 2026, the people's foreign affairs activities of the province achieved many positive results. The Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations coordinated to welcome 173 delegations with 1,999 international visitors; organized and participated in 23 delegations with 305 officials to work in Cambodia and Laos.
Notably, the work of mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid reached more than 337 billion VND through 283 programs, projects and non-projects, contributing to the implementation of social security policies, poverty reduction and local socio-economic development.
Speaking to direct at the congress, Mr. Dong Huy Cuong highly appreciated the concern, leadership, and direction of Dong Thap province for people-to-people diplomacy, especially in the process of consolidating and strengthening the organization. The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will continue to accompany and support partnership connections, creating conditions for the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations to expand cooperative and friendly relations with people of other countries.
Mr. Dinh Van Dung requested the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation; proactively advise and develop work programs suitable to local development requirements. At the same time, strengthen coordination with levels and sectors, promote the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy and seize international resources to serve socio-economic development, contributing to building Dong Thap to develop sustainably.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations awarded the Medal "For Peace and Friendship between Nations" and Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals who made positive contributions to people-to-people diplomacy in the period 2019 - 2026. Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the activities of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations for the term 2019 - 2024.
