Listening to the people, removing each bottleneck of the high-speed railway project
Quang Tri - Before deploying the North-South high-speed railway project, Quang Tri ward organized a dialogue and listened to people's petitions.
On October 15, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri ward, Quang Tri province organized the forum "Listening to the people's voices", to grasp the thoughts, aspirations and remove obstacles related to the North-South high-speed railway project.
According to Quang Tri Ward People's Committee, Quang Tri province's plan in January 2027 will deploy site clearance to implement the North-South high-speed railway project.
The project passing through Quang Tri ward is 3.5km long, affecting about 200 households. The locality has proposed to the province to build 2 resettlement areas in Tan Phuoc village, an area of 3.68ha and Nhu Le village, an area of 13.1ha.
At the forum, people in Nhu Le neighborhood basically agreed with the policy of project implementation but were still concerned about the progress, scope of land recovery and compensation plan.
Notably, since there was information about the direction of the railway line, some households have stopped production on land areas within the planning. The slow implementation of the project has affected livelihoods, and people have difficulties in income.
People requested the government to publicize the compensation plan, accelerate the construction progress of the resettlement area, and ensure living conditions in the new residence.
After listening to voters' opinions, leaders of the Ward People's Committee directly answered the recommendations.
Mr. Nguyen Khanh Vu - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri ward emphasized that before implementing the national key project, the government proactively dialogues and listens to people's thoughts to promptly handle problems right from the grassroots level.
Mr. Vu requested that the inventory and valuation of compensation must be accurate, public, and transparent, without omitting subjects or delaying payment of benefits. At the same time, accelerate the construction of 2 resettlement areas, ensuring synchronous infrastructure and living conditions equal to or better than the old place of residence.
Mr. Vu also assigned the government and the Ward Fatherland Front to establish a hotline or organize periodic citizen receptions to resolve petitions about land and livelihoods, to prevent prolonged grievances from arising.
