Khanh Hoa - The locality has held a meeting to discuss the planning plan for the special national relic Hoa Lai tower related to the North-South high-speed railway project.

On May 25, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to discuss the planning plan for the special national relic Hoa Lai tower (Thuan Bac commune) related to the North-South high-speed railway project.

According to a report by the Department of Construction of Khanh Hoa province, through preliminary route review of the North-South high-speed railway project in the pre-feasibility phase section passing through the province, it shows that the road is likely to pass through or directly affect the church, cemetery area and especially the special national relic Hoa Lai tower.

According to the current preliminary route direction, the Hoa Lai tower special national relic area will have a viaduct belonging to the high-speed railway project passing through.

Meanwhile, Mr. Le Van Hoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province - said that according to the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage, Hoa Lai tower is a special national relic, so it is subject to strict protection and cannot be infringed upon. The entire area of the relic site has been ranked by the Prime Minister's decision.

According to Decision No. 2499/QD-TTg dated December 22, 2016 of the Prime Minister, Hoa Lai tower is classified as a special national relic. This is an ancient Cham tower complex that preserves many unique cultural and architectural values of the ancient Champa Kingdom.

The original Hoa Lai tower complex includes 3 adjacent towers built on a land area of nearly 5,000m2. The relic is located on the North-South traffic axis, near National Highway 1, convenient for tourists and researchers to visit and learn.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Long Bien - Standing Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - requested the Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant units to urgently review the obstacles, and at the same time proposed that the Ministry of Construction study solutions to adjust the route direction to avoid encroaching on the special national relic Hoa Lai tower.

The Department of Construction, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organize actual surveys and complete documents to report to competent authorities for consideration and settlement according to regulations.
