Can Tho supports building and repairing 123 houses for children of resistance activists

On the afternoon of October 2nd, Can Tho City organized a conference to summarize the program to support the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for children of resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins in the city.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Tran Chi Hung, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, emphasized that this is a program with profound humanistic meaning, a major policy of the Party and State in caring for people's lives, especially vulnerable groups in society.

By September 18, 2026, the city has completed and handed over 123 houses in 47 communes and wards, including 64 newly built houses and 59 repaired houses. The houses basically meet the requirements for area, structure, durability, safety and essential living conditions for households.

Behind the number of 123 houses are 123 homes, 123 families have more conditions to stabilize their lives, feel secure in working, producing and living. That is also the greatest value of the program," Mr. Hung emphasized.

On behalf of the city leaders, Mr. Tran Chi Hung acknowledged, praised and thanked the Command of Military Region 9; units of the armed forces; Military Command (CHQS) of the city; Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; departments, agencies, socio-political organizations; Party committees and authorities of 47 communes and wards; together with businesses, organizations, individuals and people who have joined forces to implement the program.

In the coming time, city leaders requested levels, sectors, and localities to continue to support households after handing over houses, combining livelihood policies, vocational training, and job creation to stabilize life.

At the same time, effectively mobilize legitimate resources for social security, ensuring publicity, transparency, and targeting the right people; promote propaganda of the traditions "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude", and spread the spirit of sharing in the community.

City leaders also requested levels and sectors to continue to promote the results of experience from the program, proactively remove difficulties right from the grassroots level, so that social security work becomes more practical, effective, targeted and sustainable.
