The National Assembly is a place to crystallize the intelligence, will and aspiration of the entire nation

This morning (January 6), a national celebration took place in Hanoi to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first general election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026).

General Secretary To Lam and leaders and former leaders of the Party and State attended the ceremony.

Presenting a speech at the Commemoration Ceremony, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that January 6, 1946 was a brilliant milestone opening a new period of development for the Vietnamese people.

In this sacred moment, we commemorate the great contributions of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the glory and sea merits of the great President Ho Chi Minh; to commemorate and express deep gratitude to our compatriots, cadres and soldiers who have devoted and sacrificed for the Fatherland and the People - the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.

According to the National Assembly Chairman, over the past 80 years, with 15 terms, in any circumstances, the National Assembly has made important contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, worthy of being the highest representative body of the People, the highest state power body and a place to crystallize the intelligence, will and aspirations of the entire nation.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that, inheriting the achievements of previous terms, the 15th National Assembly has achieved comprehensive results in the fields of constitution making, legislative making, supreme supervision, deciding on important issues of the country and parliamentary diplomacy, contributing to promoting economic and social development, ensuring social security, national defense and security; preventing corruption, waste, negativity, building the Party and the political system.

In particular, the National Assembly has thoroughly grasped the direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat and General Secretary To Lam on innovation in thinking in law-making, proactively and promptly institutionalizing the Party's policies, affirming its pioneering role, taking a step forward in institutions, deciding on difficult issues and unprecedented matters.

The National Assembly has constantly improved its organization, innovation, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of its activities; promoting the application of digital technology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.

Each National Assembly delegate deeply absorbs the teaching of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: to strive to maintain the independence of the Fatherland, strive to seek happiness for the people, always remember and practice for the benefit of the country, forget the benefit of the home, for the common good, forget the personal good - the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.

According to the National Assembly Chairman, the tasks and requirements of the new development period of the country require the National Assembly, the National Assembly agencies, and National Assembly deputies to strive, make efforts, and be more determined; promote the achieved results, overcome limitations, continue to innovate thinking in law-making, improve capacity, and operational efficiency, dare to speak, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the rapid and sustainable development of the country, for the prosperous and happy life of the people.

In the immediate future, it is necessary to actively contribute to the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party; the election of 16th National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term; determined to work with the entire Party, people, army, and entire political system to successfully carry out the goals and tasks set by the Party and State.
