Gia Lai speeds up the construction of houses for people in flood-affected areas, determined to finish early
Gia Lai - Implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign", the province has repaired all damaged houses and is speeding up the rebuilding of new houses for people in flood-affected areas, determined to finish early.
After more than 1 month of implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign" - the rapid reconstruction of shelters for people affected by storms and floods, Gia Lai province has repaired 27,522 severely damaged houses, reaching 100%. For 674 collapsed houses that need to be rebuilt, the implementation progress is over 70%.
To support people, the province has issued many policies, including: households with collapsed or washed away houses are completely supported with 60 million VND/house; households with serious damage are supported with 2-5 million VND/house; poor, near-poor households and families in need of repair are supported with 20 million VND/house. To date, the province has spent more than 720 billion VND to support people to build, repair houses and build resettlement areas.
Of the 674 houses that need to be rebuilt, the military force directly manages 106 houses, currently reaching over 40% of the volume; the police force directly supports the construction of 87 houses, has handed over 29 houses, the remaining number is over 80% of the progress.
The whole province mobilized 2,000 military and police officers and soldiers to directly participate in repairing, constructing, and working without days off, determined to rebuild shelters for people before the Lunar New Year 2026.
Recorded in Con Chim hamlet (Vinh Quang 2 village, Tuy Phuoc Dong commune) - which is considered an "oasis" in the middle of Thi Nai lagoon - with nearly 200 households (more than 1,000 people) living, also suffered heavy damage to their houses after storm No. 13.
Because travel conditions are completely dependent on ferries, the cost of transporting construction materials here is many times higher than on land, making it difficult for people to rebuild their homes.
Faced with complex terrain and many isolated residential areas in the middle of rivers, the 34th Army Corps (Ministry of National Defense) mobilized boats and boats to transport construction materials, directly supporting people to rebuild shelters.
Ms. Le Thi Truc Ly (32 years old, residing in Con Chim hamlet) shared that storm No. 13 completely collapsed her family's small house, forcing her and her young children to stay at relatives' houses.
"Thanks to the amount of 60 million VND supported by the province, along with the help of benefactors and additional loans, my family has the conditions to rebuild the house. Because the roads are difficult, the transportation cost is very high, but thanks to the support of the soldiers, the houses are built faster, and the cost is also much more economical. Seeing the house nearing completion, my family is very happy and grateful," Ms. Ly expressed.
After 1 month of implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign", the Prime Minister requested localities to focus on, speed up progress, and complete the reconstruction of housing for the people before January 15, 2026.
Implementing this direction, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan requested the Secretaries and Chairmen of Commune and Ward People's Committees to take full responsibility for the progress and implementation results in the area; directly monitor and urge daily, promptly handle arising difficulties and problems.
For localities with many unfinished houses such as Tuy Phuoc Dong, Tuy Phuoc Bac, Su, Ngo May, De Gi, Dak Song communes, Quy Nhon Dong ward... Commune-level Secretaries and Chairmen must proactively report and propose to the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police to increase forces when necessary.
Direct construction units to continuously work in 3 shifts and 4 teams, taking advantage of maximum time when the weather conditions are favorable, determined to complete on schedule.
The Chairman assigned the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police to mobilize maximum available forces, maintain support for localities until the completion of the construction of houses for the people, so as not to let the shortage of forces affect the overall progress.
