Prime Minister appoints Mr. Don Tuan Phong as Deputy Director of the Government Office

Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has just signed Decision No. 639/QD-TTg dated April 8, 2026, transferring and appointing Mr. Don Tuan Phong - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for National Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs to hold the position of Deputy Chairman of the Government Office.

Mr. Don Tuan Phong was born on July 27, 1970, native of Quoc Oai commune, Hanoi City; high-level political theory level, professional qualifications: Doctor of Economics, Master of Development Planning, Bachelor of English.

Mr. Don Tuan Phong is a National Assembly Deputy of the XIV, XV, XVI terms.

Before being appointed as Deputy Director of the Government Office, Mr. Don Tuan Phong had held the positions of:

From March 1993 - September 1997: Intern expert, Specialist of the Coordinating Board for People's Aid under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

From September 1997 - September 1998: Undergraduate studies at Bradford University, UK.

From September 1998 - September 2003: Specialist of the People's Aid Coordination Board, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (2001-2005).

From September 2003 - December 2008: Deputy Head of the probationary committee, Deputy Head of the committee, Secretary of the Party Cell of the People's Aid Coordinating Committee, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

From January 2009 - April 2012: Head of the People's Aid Coordination Board, Party Committee member (from April 2009), Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (from July 2010).

From April 2012 - December 2013: Member of the Party Delegation, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee (from April 2013), Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, concurrently Head of the People's Aid Coordination Committee (to June 2013), concurrently Head of the Organization - Personnel Committee (from July 2013).

From December 2013 - September 2016: Member of the Party Delegation, Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary, cum Head of the Organization - Personnel Committee of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; National Assembly Deputy of the XIV term, Member of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee (from July 2016).

From October 2016 - July 2019: National Assembly Deputy of the XIV term, Member of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, Member in charge of the Party Delegation (to November 2018), Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary in charge of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (to December 2018); National Assembly Deputy of the XIV term, Member of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee.

From August 2019 - June 2021: Standing Member of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee.

From July 2021 - February 2025: Member of the 15th National Assembly, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, Vice Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) of Vietnam; Chairman of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Parliamentary Group; Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-European Parliament (EP) Friendship Parliamentary Group.
