In his new position, the new Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Tran Duc Thang made three promises.
On the afternoon of April 8, the Hanoi Party Committee held a Conference to announce the Politburo's decision on personnel work. Politburo member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra attended the decision awarding ceremony.
According to the decision of the Politburo, Mr. Tran Duc Thang - Member of the Politburo, Minister of Agriculture and Environment will no longer participate in the Executive Committee of the Government Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025.
Mr. Tran Duc Thang was assigned and appointed to participate in the Executive Committee of the Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee of the XVIII term, term 2025 - 2030.
Speaking at the conference, Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu said that the Politburo highly appreciates the very important and dedicated contributions of Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc to Hanoi City in the past time and requested to continue to pay attention, support, and share his valuable experiences so that the Capital can develop more and more, worthy of being the heart of the whole country.
We also request comrade Tran Duc Thang, based on the achievements and contributions of previous generations, to continue to inherit and promote experience, capacity, and work strengths, together with the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee to join hands and work together to excellently complete the assigned tasks" - Mr. Tran Cam Tu said.
Speaking to receive the assignment, the new Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Tran Duc Thang said that the outstanding achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Hanoi achieved in many terms, especially the strong and breakthrough transformations from the last months of 2025 to now, under the drastic and in-depth leadership and direction of Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, have created momentum, created position and created new motivation for the rapid and sustainable development of the Capital.

Mr. Tran Duc Thang said that he will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, bravery, intelligence, dynamism, creativity, constantly nurturing and building the Party Committee and the city's political system to be clean and strong; identifying the solidarity, unity, and determination for the common cause in the collective of the City Party Committee Executive Committee as the core, source, and red thread throughout the process of leadership, construction and development, worthy of the position, role and special importance of the Capital.
Along with that is to inherit and promote the achievements already achieved, take advantage of new development opportunities and spaces to promote economic growth to achieve the highest results; and at the same time ensure sustainability, harmony, and balance between economic development and culture, society, and environment. Continue to establish a new growth model, affirm the role of the Capital as a pioneer, leading the way, leading and spreading the development of the Capital region, the key economic region of the North and the whole country.
In his new position, he will constantly learn from colleagues to quickly approach work; will be exemplary, receptive, objective, and dedicated to the development of the Capital. Strengthen discipline and order, uphold the responsibility of heads; continue to innovate thinking, leadership style, direction and implementation in the direction of "creating - serving"; taking the satisfaction, trust, and prosperous, happy, and peaceful life of the Capital's people as the most important measure.
Deeply aware of the responsibility before the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital, I would like to seriously and fully accept the opinions expressed in directing the assignment of tasks by the Standing Committee of the Secretariat to work with the Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to concretize in leadership and direction, and successfully complete the assigned tasks" - Mr. Tran Duc Thang said.
