Tourism aims to welcome 25 million international visitors in 2026
The tourism industry sets a target of welcoming 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic visitors in 2026.
On January 13, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh chaired a meeting of the State Steering Committee on Tourism.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that the goal of the tourism industry in 2026 is to welcome 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic visitors.
For the tourism industry to truly make a breakthrough, develop sustainably and actively contribute to the double-digit GDP growth target in 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister requested a new approach, shifting from recovery thinking to growth, competition and sustainable development thinking.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to focus on concretizing Resolution 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026 of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture, restructuring, improving the quality and competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism; reviewing and adjusting the planning of the tourism system for the period 2021-2030, ensuring compliance with the two-level local government model.

The tourism industry needs to focus on effectively exploiting markets with large international visitors, high spending, and long-term stays; studying breakthrough policies to remove institutional barriers, encourage innovation, digital transformation, and green transformation in the tourism sector.
Strongly innovate tourism promotion and advertising; focus promotional resources on high-spending customer market segments and new potential markets.
It is necessary to promote cultural diplomacy and the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to personalize promotional content suitable for each target market; orient localities and businesses to develop high-end tourism product lines suitable for each locality's strengths (green tourism, health care tourism, golf...) to improve the quality and competitiveness of destinations in Vietnam.
In addition, ministries and branches, according to their assigned functions and tasks, study and advise on policies to contribute to tourism development.
The Ministry of Public Security continues to strengthen solutions to apply technology to improve the process and procedures for issuing electronic visas; the process of controlling entry and exit procedures to ensure faster and more convenient for international visitors to Vietnam.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes information and propaganda about Vietnam's visa policies to international friends; research and propose advice on amending relevant legal documents to facilitate the effective implementation of Vietnam's tourism promotion and promotion policies abroad.
The Ministry of Construction continues to implement strategic infrastructure investment solutions, including international flights to Vietnam; increase the attraction of international tourists through international transport methods such as air and sea; complete and put into use on schedule key traffic projects and hubs.
