Hai Phong - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City Pham Van Lap inspects and directs poverty reduction solutions in some localities in the area.

On October 7th, Mr. Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City, went to inspect the reality and consider solutions to implement the poverty eradication target according to the Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress, term 2025-2030 in Thuong Hong commune and Le Thanh Nghi ward.

Inspection shows that Thuong Hong commune currently has 51 poor households, Le Thanh Nghi ward has 46 poor households. These are 2 localities with the highest number of poor households in the city. Most poor households still face difficulties in employment, income and production conditions; some households have elderly people, sick people, people with disabilities or special circumstances, and their ability to rise out of poverty is still limited.

In localities, Mr. Pham Van Lap inspected the actual situation of life, working conditions, and production of poor households; and at the same time exchanged with Party committees and authorities about difficulties, obstacles and support solutions suitable for each target group.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City Pham Van Lap, poverty reduction is an important task, which needs to be placed in the overall socio-economic development tasks of the locality. In which, for households that still have the ability to work, it is necessary to prioritize solutions to create jobs, livelihoods, and increase income; for households with specific circumstances, it is necessary to well implement social security policies, ensuring support for the right subjects, promptly and practically.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city requested localities to continue to review the circumstances, needs and capabilities of poor households, specifically classify them to have appropriate support solutions. Along with fully implementing the State's support policies, localities need to proactively develop poverty reduction plans, promote production and business models, production facilities, and businesses in the area to create jobs and livelihoods for poor people who are able to work.

At the same time, localities need to strengthen propaganda, mobilization, and arouse the will of self-reliance and self-strengthening of poor households; mobilize the participation of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, businesses and the community in supporting livelihoods and jobs, gradually increasing income and improving people's lives. The goal is not to let new poor households arise, and at the same time focus on solutions so that each household with the ability to escape poverty is supported in the right direction, in accordance with actual conditions.

Mr. Pham Van Lap requested relevant departments and sectors to review mechanisms, policies and resources to support poor households; proactively guide and coordinate with localities to implement them promptly, ensuring that policies reach the right targets and promote efficiency.

According to the objectives of the Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, Hai Phong strives to eliminate all poor households in 2027. In the immediate future, the city sets a target to reduce at least 50% of poor households by the end of 2026. The inspection and review of the reality in localities with a high number of poor households is aimed at correctly assessing the current situation, identifying difficulties, thereby proposing specific and feasible solutions, contributing to ensuring the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and improving the quality of life of people in the city.
