Khanh Hoa - A 6th grade student and his father voluntarily handed over a golden mountain turtle to functional agencies.
On October 16, Bao An Ward Police coordinated with the Forest Protection force to receive a golden mountain turtle individual voluntarily handed over by To Gia Phu - a 6th grade student of Le Van Tam Secondary School - and his father, residing in Residential Group 7.
According to the family, this turtle individual was requested to be raised many years ago.
Through learning about propaganda materials on wildlife protection, the family realized that raising these animals must comply with legal regulations, and at the same time understand more clearly the meaning of nature conservation work.
From there, the family proactively contacted the Ward Police to hand over the turtle to functional agencies for handling according to regulations.
The individual is identified as a golden mountain turtle, scientific name Indotestudo elongata, belonging to the reptile class, weighing about 1kg and is a male individual.

Golden mountain turtles are terrestrial species, often appearing in Khop forests, bamboo forests and mainly active during the day.
In Vietnam, this species is recorded to be distributed in many localities such as Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong and Dong Nai.
After receiving, the units coordinate to carry out procedures according to regulations, organize care, monitor the health of individual turtles and complete the necessary conditions before bringing them back to a suitable natural environment.
