Propaganda and mobilization work must go one step ahead
Speaking at the opening of the training class, Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized that the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union continues to identify the central and core task of the trade union organization as improving the effectiveness of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.
To perform this task well, propaganda and mobilization work must go one step ahead, create consensus, consolidate trust and promote the collective strength of the trade union organization.
According to Ms. Thai Thu Xuong, digital transformation and social networks have fundamentally changed the way union members and workers receive information. Currently, most workers access news mainly through smartphones.
Besides positive information, false and toxic information also spread quickly, which can cause frustration and create hotspots among union members and workers.
If the trade union organization is slow to provide information or information does not meet the needs and aspirations of workers, that gap may be filled by bad, toxic, false, and distorted information.
Along with that, life and jobs are still facing many difficulties; the situation of crime, social evils, especially drugs continues to be complicated, posing requirements for innovating propaganda and mobilization work.
Ms. Thai Thu Xuong proposed that trade union officials switch from "talking to workers" to listening, dialogue and accompanying; from one-way propaganda to multi-dimensional, multi-platform communication.
On the student side, it is necessary to actively exchange and share experiences, apply knowledge to practice and organize retraining for grassroots trade union officials.
