Lao Cai - Not stopping at supporting gifts, Tran Yen Commune Trade Union aims to give "fishing rods" to vulnerable people and poor households through livelihoods and jobs.

For the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Bon in Tan Dong 1 village, Tran Yen commune, Lao Cai province, the cinnamon exfoliating machine worth 6.5 million VND is not just a gift from the trade union.

It is also a production tool to help families better utilize raw materials from cinnamon trees - a local strength - to earn extra income.

Mr. Bon's family is one of many cases where the Tran Yen Commune Trade Union concretized the policy of caring for vulnerable people with practical actions.

In the past time, grassroots trade unions in agencies, units, and businesses in the area have actively mobilized union members and workers to contribute money and working days.

To date, the total mobilized budget has reached more than 80 million VND. Resources are used to support production vehicles, breeds, barns, means of transportation for students and improve living conditions of difficult households.

In Tan Dong 3 village, Tran Yen commune, Ms. Hoang Thi Bat's household was supported with a package worth 30 million VND to build a chicken coop with an area of 20m2, a solid 7m2 toilet and a 40-inch TV.

According to Ms. Bat, in the past, the family faced many difficulties in investing in barns and improving living conditions.

Now with a solid chicken coop, the family has more conditions to develop the chicken flock, gradually creating a stable income source.

The family is very happy to be cared for and supported by the trade union. With a new chicken coop, the family will try to take good care of the chickens, doing business step by step to make life more stable," Ms. Bat expressed.

Support is not only aimed at livelihoods but also contributes to improving the living conditions of families.

For poor students, bicycles also become meaningful gifts. Recently, the Trade Union of Yen Bai Silkworm Joint Stock Company donated 10 bicycles, worth a total of more than 20 million VND, helping them to travel to school more conveniently.

According to the Tran Yen Commune Trade Union, immediate support is only a part. More importantly, it creates opportunities for people to have jobs, stable incomes and gradually become self-reliant in life.

In particular, through the connection of the trade union, Yen Bai Silkworm Joint Stock Company, Vina KNF International Co., Ltd., Dang Khoa Private Enterprise, Que Hoi Vietnam Cooperative... have agreed in prioritizing recruitment, vocational training and job placement for local workers.

Representatives of Tran Yen Commune Trade Union shared that in the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with Party committees, authorities, grassroots trade unions and businesses to review and grasp the specific circumstances and needs of each difficult household and each vulnerable group.

From there, support will be implemented in the direction of the right people, the right needs and more practical, prioritizing livelihood models, vocational training and job connection.
