Son La workers have more job options near home

Trường Sơn (báo lao động) 07/10/2026 15:26 (GMT+7)

Enterprises expanding production help Son La workers have more jobs near home, increase income, reduce costs and conveniently take care of their families.

Son La currently has over 50,000 workers working in enterprises, of which about 10,000 workers directly produce at factories, concentrated in Mai Son, Yen Chau, Phu Yen, Moc Chau. Along with operating enterprises, new facilities and expanded production lines continue to create more jobs for local workers.

In Yen Chau commune, Yen Chau Shoe Joint Stock Company has a designed capacity of 950,000 products/year, currently creating jobs for nearly 500 workers. In the factory, stages from cutting, sewing to processing are carried out on a production line. Many local workers are trained from the beginning to take on suitable positions.

Ms. Ha Thuy Linh - a worker at Yen Chau Shoe Joint Stock Company - shared that the job is suitable for family conditions because she can go back and forth during the day. This is also the reason she chose to work locally instead of looking for work in other provinces and cities. For rural workers, looking for work far from home often entails rent, food, travel and family visits. Meanwhile, on-the-job work helps them have income while still maintaining their life in their hometown.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Vice Chairman of Yen Chau Commune People's Committee - assessed that since Yen Chau Footwear Joint Stock Company has been operating, people have had more choices of jobs right in the locality.

People can go to work near their homes, reduce rent, travel and living costs when they do not have to look for work in other localities" - Mr. Huong said.

Not only producing shoes, businesses processing agricultural products, food, toys and animal feed ingredients also create jobs for Son La workers. The recruitment demand from unskilled workers to technical workers is maintained at many production facilities.

At Son La Toy Co., Ltd., the local labor force accounts for a large number. For workers living in neighboring communes, work at the enterprise opens up more livelihood options without having to leave their hometowns.

Ms. Lo Thi Tien, Chieng Mung commune, a worker at Son La Toy Co., Ltd., confided that work near her home makes her life more convenient. Not having to rent a room, travel time is shortened, so after work she can still spend time for her family.

According to workers, an income of about 7-10 million VND/month at some businesses is a significant source of income for many families. Besides salaries, on-the-job work also helps reduce rent, accommodation, travel costs and save time for families.

According to Ms. Thai Thi Mai - Vice President of the Son La Provincial Labor Federation, working near home helps workers reduce living and travel costs and have conditions to be close to their families. However, to be attached for a long time, businesses need to ensure salaries, insurance, working hours and regimes according to regulations.
