Gratitude to people with meritorious services, gratitude shines forever after 79 years

Care policies are followed by responsibility

In the house storing many memorabilia of martyr Le Van Kha in Tan Hao commune, Mr. Le Kim Hieu emotionally welcomed the Central working delegation and provincial leaders to visit on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day. For him, the concern of the Party, State and government is a great source of encouragement for his family.

More than half a century since his father sacrificed, the pride in the soldier who dedicated his youth to the Fatherland has never faded. That is also the common feeling of many policy families in Vinh Long homeland.

I am very proud that my father followed the revolution and sacrificed for the country. The family always receives the attention of the Party and the State," Mr. Hieu shared. That is also the voice of many policy families in Vinh Long homeland.

Currently, Vinh Long manages more than 267,000 dossiers of people with meritorious services, including over 70,000 martyrs and nearly 35,000 wounded and sick soldiers. These figures remind the long-term responsibility in gratitude work of all levels and sectors.

Mr. Dang Hong Son - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Tan Hao commune - said that along with fully implementing the State's policies, the locality also actively mobilizes social resources to care for policy families.

To celebrate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, Tan Hao commune has repaired 2 houses of gratitude, costing 60 million VND/house, and at the same time mobilized to give 220 gifts worth 90 million VND to policy families in difficult circumstances.

According to Mr. Son, the projects and meaningful gifts not only contribute to improving the lives of policy families but also show the responsibility and gratitude of the entire political system to those who sacrificed for national independence and the development of their homeland today.

The journey to bring the martyrs back still does not stop

If the care for those left behind expresses gratitude, then the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains is a sacred journey to bring those who have fallen back to their families. That journey is still continued by responsibility and perseverance.

For more than half his life, Mr. Tran Tan Dat, the nephew of two martyrs Tran Van Quy and Dang Van Au, is still diligently searching for the traces of his loved ones. For him, it is not only the wish of his family but also a promise to those who sacrificed for national independence.

Mr. Dat hopes that all martyrs will be identified and have a place to rest. Each successful DNA test result not only helps a family close the wait but also continues the gratitude of today's generation.

That spirit is concretized through the 500 Days and Nights Campaign to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains. Since the beginning of 2026, Vinh Long has repatriated 50 martyrs' remains and one mass grave, and continues to announce the results of identification at martyrs' cemeteries.

According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel La Phu Huy, Team Leader of Team K90 (Political Department of Military Region 9), the Mekong Delta still has many martyrs who have not been gathered. Therefore, each search shows the responsibility and deep gratitude of the Party, State, and People for those who sacrificed for the Fatherland.
