Da Nang mobilizes socialized resources to build houses and support families of people with meritorious services

In the new house just handed over on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day July 27, Mr. Dang Van Ba (An Bang village, Phu Thuan commune) could not hide his emotion. As a war invalid, a veteran who went through life and death on the Cambodian battlefield from 1977, Mr. Ba's family's life has faced many obstacles for many years. The old house is seriously degraded, but the family does not have enough economic conditions to build a new one.

Understanding that situation, the Hoa Khanh Ward Red Cross Society sponsored 115 million VND, along with the family's counterpart funds to build the "Comradeship" project with a total value of 155 million VND.

On the day of receiving the house handover, Mr. Ba choked up: "I am a veteran, a wounded soldier who has gone through arduous war years. Now that I am old, receiving the attention and support of all levels of government and sponsors to have a stable and solid house like this, I feel very happy and grateful.

That happiness is also present in the family of Mrs. Vo Thi Ut (Phu Loc village, Duy Xuyen commune). As the wife of martyr Doan A, she herself directly participated in the resistance war against the US for national salvation and was awarded the First-class Resistance Medal. This year, at the age of 90, her health has weakened, and she and her two sons infected with chemical toxins are living dependent on each other in extremely difficult economic conditions.

Thanks to the connection and funding from the Hoa Khanh Ward Red Cross Society, a solid house has been built. In particular, through practical surveys to understand the shortages in daily life, this unit also supported funding to renovate and complete the domestic water system for Mrs. Ut's house, helping the family ensure better living conditions and health care.

Mr. Tran Dinh Nam - Vice Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Hoa Khanh ward, Da Nang city said: "Through the introduction of local authorities, we have directly gone to each village, met with families to survey and study the reality. From there, discuss and come up with reasonable repair and construction plans, ensuring sufficient function for households to use. In addition to supporting house construction, in this phase we also prepared 40 gifts (worth 500,000 VND/gift) to send to policy families in difficult circumstances in the communes where the delegation handed over houses.
