Sharing at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr., Colonel Tran Dinh Viet, former Deputy Director of the Naval Academy emphasized the historical significance of the National Historical Relic, the Memorial Site of Ship C235.

At the end of February 1968, Ship C235, captained by Lieutenant Nguyen Phan Vinh, transported weapons to Hon Heo wharf to support the Southern battlefield. After completing the task of bringing goods ashore, the ship was surrounded and pursued by many warships and enemy aircraft in Nha Trang waters.

In a situation where the encirclement could not be broken, Captain Nguyen Phan Vinh and his teammates decided to cancel the ship to keep the secret of the strategic transport route at sea.

In the early morning of March 1, 1968, ship C235 exploded off Hon Heo. After that, Captain Nguyen Phan Vinh and many officers and soldiers continued to fight on the shore until they bravely sacrificed themselves.

The sacrifice of the soldiers of Ship C235 has become a symbol of courageous spirit, contributing to creating the legend of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea.

Unable to help but be moved when at Hon Heo wharf today, Mr. Viet witnessed young people attentively listening to historical stories and learning information through QR codes.

Activities about origins associated with practical experiences will help history get closer to the younger generation. When they see, hear and directly participate in preserving relics, they will remember history more deeply," Mr. Viet expressed.
