Shopping vouchers help workers reduce the burden of spending
The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has just coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union to organize the "Joining the City's Youth Workers' Day 2026".
Hundreds of union members and young workers were given shopping vouchers worth 150,000 VND/person to buy goods at discounts compared to the market, enjoy free pho and participate in many practical support activities.
Ms. Trinh Thi Hong (20 years old, from Ca Mau) said that although both husband and wife are workers with a total monthly income of 20 million VND, life in the city still has to be frugal and thrifty.
Being pregnant with her first child, Ms. Hong shared her worry about daily living expenses. "We have to send money back to our hometown to ask our parents to keep it for us so that we can have money for expenses after giving birth, only keeping about 5 - 8 million VND to pay for rent and living expenses each month" - Ms. Hong said.
For her, markets selling goods at preferential prices for workers are a sharing of great financial pressure for her family. Instead of receiving pre-packaged gifts, being able to hold the voucher to personally choose and buy necessities according to her needs makes Ms. Hong more excited.
Ms. Le Thi Be Tuy (43 years old, residing in Phuoc Long ward) hurriedly took the shopping voucher and went straight to the price stabilization booth to shop. Ms. Tuy said that because she still has a young child at home, she only takes advantage of taking the voucher, quickly buying practical items and then having to go home immediately.
Ms. Tuy said that her salary completely depends on the quantity of goods at the company. With a salary of about 6-7 million VND per month, she faces a lot of spending pressure when rent alone accounts for 3 million VND, not to mention the cost of raising two children of school age. For many workers, buying price-stabilized goods is an effective way to control spending.
The highlight of this year's festival is that besides activities to care for material life such as price stabilization booths, haircuts, free pho, young workers are also equipped with digital skills, disseminating legal knowledge, training in fire prevention and fighting, and life skills training.
