Quang Trung campaign in Quang Tri completed, a house was built in just 24 days
Quang Tri - In just 24 days, the house for people in landslide areas during the Quang Trung Campaign was completed, handed over and people moved in.
In mid-November 2025, prolonged rain caused landslides, causing the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong (in village 2, Khe Sanh commune, Quang Tri province) to be damaged, not ensuring safety for repairs and continued living.
From the wishes of the family and the dangerous situation, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune has developed a relocation plan and arranged resettlement to build a new house for Ms. Thuong's family.
After finding a suitable plot of land in Tan Vinh village (Khe Sanh commune), on December 17, 2025, Khe Sanh commune started building a house for Ms. Thuong. During the construction process, the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune directed the commune's forces to closely coordinate with Division 968 to urgently focus on construction with the spirit of "3 shifts, 4 teams", "working day, work at night, work on extra days off", "working through Tet".
On January 9, 2026, after only 24 days, the house was completed, and the next day (January 10, 2026), Ms. Thuong's family moved to a stable life.
I still feel like I am dreaming. Before Tet, Tet has come to my family, Ms. Thuong said emotionally when seeing the new house still fragrant with mortar. For her, the timely support of the government and the army is not only a home, but a fulcrum to start over after natural disasters.
According to Ms. Thai Thi Nga - Chairman of Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee, the heavy rains and floods at the end of 2025 have caused many residential areas in the area to face a serious risk of landslides. In Khe Sanh commune alone, heavy rain on November 16-17 caused a long landslide along Hung Vuong Street, directly affecting 12 households. Many houses are cracked, side works collapse, posing a potential risk of insecurity if not handled promptly.
Immediately after the incident, the local authorities urgently evacuated people to a safe place, and at the same time proposed that the Provincial People's Committee declare an emergency situation. In a short time, Quang Tri province issued an order to build an emergency anti-landslide embankment project, in response to the Quang Trung Campaign launched by the Prime Minister.
Khe Sanh commune authorities assigned leaders to closely monitor the scene, mobilize maximum police, military, militia and self-defense forces, and coordinate with the army to carry out construction continuously day and night. By December 25, 2025, the entire landslide area was safely treated, 11 households in village 3A had returned to their homes to live stably according to the plan.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, in order for the Quang Trung Campaign to reach the finish line on time and earlier than planned, the province has mobilized the entire political system, mainly the provincial Department of Construction and the People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune to closely coordinate with military units, constructing according to the motto "working day, working night, working through holidays and Tet". The highest goal is to ensure the safety of the people and help people stabilize their lives soon. Up to now, the campaign has been successfully completed.
The completion of the Quang Trung Campaign ahead of schedule not only overcomes the consequences of natural disasters, but also demonstrates a strong change in the direction and management of Quang Tri province after the Prime Minister's criticism, bringing complete confidence and joy to people in landslide areas.
On November 30 and December 3, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch 234 and Official Dispatch 1551, directing the Central provinces to promptly overcome the damage after natural disasters. At the online meeting on the morning of December 9, the Prime Minister continued to request to speed up the "Quang Trung Campaign", speed up the reconstruction and repair of houses for families whose houses were damaged by recent natural disasters. Also at this meeting, the Prime Minister criticized Quang Tri province for not implementing repairs for 12 households whose houses were severely damaged by the impact of storms and asked the province to report.
