Delay in receiving maternity benefits for many months

Ms. N.T. T. H, a teacher at Hoa Sen Sunkids Kindergarten (No. 11, Ha Hoang street, Tran Phu ward, Ha Tinh province) - said that she gave birth 11 months ago, returned to work 5 months ago but has not yet received maternity benefits.

According to Ms. H, the company director informed that due to difficulties, the insurance debt will not be fully paid until December 31, 2026, when the maternity benefits of employees will be resolved.

The delay in receiving maternity benefits has caused difficulties for her family in spending, especially when raising two young children. She hopes the company will soon fulfill its social insurance obligations to ensure the rights of employees.

Similarly, Ms. D. T. P - a teacher at the same school - took maternity leave from January 2026 and has returned to work for a few months but has not received maternity benefits. She informed that because the company owed insurance, when giving birth, she did not have a health insurance card (HI), and had to pay about 11 million VND for a cesarean section.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong - Principal of Hoa Sen Sunkids Kindergarten - confirmed that as of October 14, 4 teachers had not received maternity benefits.

According to Ms. Huong, previously, Hoa Sen Ha Tinh Education Joint Stock Company, chaired by Ms. Vo Thi Nhu Quynh as Chairwoman of the Board of Directors cum Director, had delayed paying insurance for all 24 officials and employees of the school, affecting the rights of employees. Among these, 4 people took maternity leave, but the maternity benefits have not been resolved.

Deadline at the end of the year to pay off insurance debts

Representatives of the Collection Management and Participant Development Department, Ha Tinh Provincial Social Insurance said that this agency has repeatedly notified and urged Hoa Sen Ha Tinh Education Joint Stock Company to fulfill its obligation to pay social insurance. After urging, the enterprise has paid a part but has not yet paid off the debt.

Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on October 14, Mr. Le Quang Tang - Chairman of the Board of Directors cum Director of Hoa Sen Ha Tinh Education Joint Stock Company - informed that since receiving Hoa Sen Sunkids Kindergarten in May 2026, the company has paid monthly social insurance fully for employees. However, the insurance debt from the old owner is still 60 million VND.

According to Mr. Tang, when receiving the school, the company had a large tax debt, so it faced financial difficulties. He committed to pay the full amount of insurance debt by the end of this year so that employees could have their maternity benefits resolved.

Previously, on August 11, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "Preschool teachers suffer because companies owe insurance contributions", reflecting the debt of social insurance contributions at the school, affecting the rights of teachers.

At that time, Mr. Le Quang Tang said that the company would complete the payment of insurance debt from the old owner in September and October to ensure maternity benefits for employees. However, as of October 14, the debt was still 60 million VND and 4 teachers had not received maternity benefits.
