Comrade Pham The Duyet hopes that Trade Union officials will be proactive, creative, and have bravery

To celebrate the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026), a working delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) led by Comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the VGCL - visited and wished good health to Comrade Pham The Duyet - former Member of the Standing Committee - Standing Committee of the Politburo, former President of the VGCL.

Gratitude for contributions to the Trade Union organization

At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Anh Tuan cordially inquired about the health of comrade Pham The Duyet, and expressed his deep gratitude for his great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and State, especially to the development of the Trade Union organization and the Vietnamese working class.

Reporting to the former Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Comrade Nguyen Anh Tuan said that in the past time, Trade Union levels have been urgently implementing the action program to implement the Resolution of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.

Along with that, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour is actively reporting and advising the Politburo on amending regulations related to the organizational structure to remove difficulties and obstacles, creating conditions for units, including trade union press agencies, to operate more effectively.

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour also informed about the plan towards celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (1929 - 2029). Accordingly, key activities will be promulgated from August 2026 and the series of events will officially start from November 2026.

One of the key tasks in the coming time of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is to review and edit the 100-year History of Vietnam Trade Union project.

Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor expressed their desire to continue to receive advice and heartfelt contributions from Comrade Pham The Duyet to complete this particularly meaningful project.

Devotion to the workers' movement

Moved by the concern of the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Comrade Pham The Duyet recalled the memories associated with the Trade Union organization.

Comrade Pham The Duyet recalled the milestone with comrade Nguyen Duc Thuan reporting to the Politburo on the option of choosing July 28, 1929 as the Anniversary of the Establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union associated with the role of leader Nguyen Duc Canh.

Comrade also shared memories of the large rally in 1984 at Ba Dinh Hall with the participation of leaders of the Politburo...

Despite his old age and declining health after a period of treatment, Comrade Pham The Duyet said that he is still always following the development of the workers' movement and trade union activities.

According to Comrade Pham The Duyet, going through many positions, the most profound feeling left is still the time attached to the working class and the Trade Union organization.

Comrade Pham The Duyet emphasized the three core functions of the Trade Union organization including: Organizing and mobilizing workers and laborers to implement the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State; participating in building and perfecting policies, especially policies on salaries, prices, working conditions; protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.

Comrade Pham The Duyet noted that in the context of the non-state sector's labor force increasingly accounting for a large proportion, trade union officials need to be proactive, creative, brave, and dare to speak out to protect workers.

Trade union activities must go deeper, towards practical efficiency, avoiding the situation of "many but not strong", "many but still few".

On behalf of the working delegation, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Anh Tuan respectfully received the heartfelt opinions of Comrade Pham The Duyet. At the same time, he affirmed that the valuable lessons learned from the revolutionary activities and nearly 20 years of attachment to the mining area of former President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Pham The Duyet will continue to be a source of motivation and experience for generations of Trade Union officials to inherit and promote in the new period.

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor wished Comrade Pham The Duyet always good health, longevity and continued to pay attention and contribute many valuable opinions to the development of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization.
