Prime Minister Le Minh Hung expresses gratitude to heroic martyrs in Dien Bien
Dien Bien - On the morning of July 25, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the working delegation had many activities to show gratitude on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day July 27.
Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the Central working delegation visited and offered incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House; Martyrs' Temple at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield; and visited National Martyrs' Cemetery A1.
Also participating in the delegation were comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province.
At the incense offering points, the Prime Minister and the working delegation respectfully commemorated President Ho Chi Minh, heroic martyrs, armed forces soldiers, youth volunteers, frontline civilians and compatriots who bravely fought and sacrificed on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
At National Martyrs' Cemetery A1, the working delegation listened to a report on the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs using DNA methods in the province.
According to statistics, the whole province currently has 4,594 martyrs' graves that have not been identified at 7 cemeteries. As of July 15, 2026, forces have exhumed 1,940 graves at 4 cemeteries, collected 1,822 biological samples to hand over to the Forensic Institute, Ministry of National Defense for DNA testing.
Also on the same morning, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung visited and presented gifts to the family of Mr. Phi Huong Dung (Dien Bien Phu ward), a 42% wounded soldier, and also a resistance war activist who was infected with 41-60% of chemical toxins.
The Prime Minister cordially inquired about the health and life of the wounded soldiers' families, and affirmed that the Party, State and people always remember and appreciate the sacrifices and contributions of heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services to the revolution.
The Prime Minister requested all levels, sectors, and localities to continue to well implement preferential policies for people with meritorious services, take care of the material and spiritual life of wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and relatives of martyrs, contributing to spreading the tradition of "Drinking water, remembering the source", "Gratitude" of the nation.
