Quang Ninh approves school bus project
Quang Ninh - After a period of preparation, Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee has officially approved the Project to transport students to school by electric bus.
In the immediate future, picking up and dropping off students by bus in the 2026 - 2027 school year will be piloted in the wards of the old Ha Long City, including: Ha Long, Hong Gai and Ha Tu.
This is an area with high school and student density and travel demand, often experiencing traffic congestion during school pick-up and drop-off hours; and also has basic infrastructure conditions to meet the requirements of organizing transportation by electric buses.
The service subjects are students currently studying at primary, secondary and high school levels in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Ha Tu wards, who have needs, register to use the service and are arranged according to the service capacity of each route.
According to the plan, a network will be organized including 6 electric bus routes to pick up and drop off students, connecting residential areas, pick-up and drop-off points with schools or school clusters; expected to serve 2,151/2,596 students in need according to the route plan, reaching about 82.9%.
The route and pick-up and drop-off points are determined based on actual needs, study time, traffic infrastructure conditions, ensuring convenience, safety and limiting traffic congestion and conflicts.
The first phase is expected to arrange about 50 30-seater electric buses to organize school buses for students in the 2026 - 2027 school year.
In case of increased demand, the addition of vehicles is considered based on the results of project implementation, resource balance capacity and decisions of competent authorities; the total number of vehicles according to the project orientation does not exceed 100 vehicles.
Vehicles must be fully equipped with journey monitoring equipment, cameras, fire prevention and fighting equipment, escape equipment, identification systems and other necessary conditions to serve student transportation; ensuring full safety requirements for transport business activities and student transportation.
Applying information technology, digital transformation in student management, operation, vehicle journey monitoring and providing information to parents and schools.
