Many expectations for the 2025 high school graduation exam
On March 21, 22, and 23, 12th graders of high schools and the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education of Hanoi City conducted quality assessment and survey tests. For students, this exam is not only an opportunity to assess their abilities but also an opportunity for them to get acquainted with the structure and requirements of the official high school graduation exam.
Expectations for fairness
Participating in this survey exam, Bui Duc Trung - a student at Tran Nhan Tong High School (Hanoi) shared: "After completing the Math exam in Hanoi, I realized that there were some questions in part 3 that were quite difficult, requiring more thought and calculation than the common questions. In particular, the question related to the horse fish game in part 2 made me a little difficult because the way I gave the test was different from what I had learned. I feel that this test is much more difficult than the school's test, causing me to focus and do the test more carefully."
Trung said that after this exam, he learned from experience, rubbed shoulders and practiced psychology in the exam room to prepare for the upcoming graduation exam. Trung hopes that he will have good spirit and make more efforts to achieve good results in the upcoming exam.
Also participating in the exam, Ha Anh Thu - a student at Hoa Binh - La Trobe Hanoi High School - saw the multiple-choice exam as an opportunity to re- test her level of understanding and preparation. "During the entire review process, I tried to grasp the theoretical knowledge, but through the multiple-choice exam, I realized that I needed to improve my ability to apply knowledge to practical situations, because this is an important factor in current exams. Especially for Literature when the works are no longer in textbooks" - Thu shared. Currently, they all hope that the upcoming high school graduation exam will ensure fairness, accurate reflection of their abilities and create opportunities to express what they have learned under the new program.
Expectations for classifying students
Not only students but also teachers have high expectations for this special "boat trip". Ms. Tran Thi Tho - a teacher at Hoang Van Thu High School (Hanoi) believes that this survey will help students clearly recognize their abilities, knowledge, and scores, while also training good skills and mentality for the upcoming high school graduation exam.
For the Sinh subject, the exam is long and difficult, with many practical questions, applying knowledge to life. Knowledge of grades 10 and 11 accounts for about 1-2 points, reflecting the content of the curriculum" - Ms. Tho commented.
After the Department of Education and Training's quality survey exam, Ms. Tho advised students to come up with a good review strategy in the last 2 months, speed up and build additional knowledge and skills in the areas lacking. The 2025 high school graduation exam with a new exam structure, applied for the first time, should receive great attention from the whole industry. I believe that this innovation will help classify students clearly. It is predicted that there will no longer be a "rain of 10 points" and the floor score may decrease. However, this is an important step forward, helping to accurately assess students' abilities as well as the teaching quality of schools" - Ms. Tho commented.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Education Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training - said that the exam closely follows the 2018 GDPT Program in the direction of developing qualities and abilities. The knowledge in this year's high school graduation exam is mainly from grade 12, but still available from grades 10 and 11. In particular, this year's exam will have questions that require candidates to contact reality to solve the problem, thereby better differentiating students' qualifications.
