Khanh Hoa - Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the launching ceremony of Component Project 1 - Migration and resettlement to serve the construction of Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant.

The event took place on the morning of January 15 and was an important milestone, opening the implementation of the two nuclear power plants Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 - national key projects in the strategy of ensuring energy security and sustainable development of the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Vietnam is entering a new era of development, setting a double-digit economic growth target, in which energy plays a decisive role, closely linked to the commitment to net zero emissions.

Investing in the development of nuclear energy, especially the two nuclear power plants in Ninh Thuan, has long-term strategic significance for national energy security.

According to the plan approved by the National Assembly, the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project includes 2 plants, with a total capacity of about 4,000 MW, built on an area of over 1,100 hectares, expected to be put into operation in the period of 2030 - 2031.

Currently, the Government is continuing to submit to the National Assembly to complete specific mechanisms and policies for the project; at the same time, working with international partners to negotiate and implement the construction of the factory to ensure safety and efficiency.

In parallel with investment preparation, human resources are identified as a key task.

Recently, the Steering Committee for the Construction of Nuclear Power Plants has assigned investors to develop a comprehensive training plan, send staff to study, and develop in-depth human resources on nuclear energy, to meet the requirements for the construction and safe operation of nuclear power plants in the future.

Regarding the work of migration and resettlement, according to the report of the authorities, the total area recovered to serve the two Ninh Thuan nuclear power plants is about over 1,100 hectares, affecting more than 1,100 households, with over 5,000 people in Phuoc Dinh and Vinh Hai communes.

In particular, the Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant Project needs to resettle about 470 households. The resettlement area has been invested in synchronous technical infrastructure and social infrastructure, ensuring stable and long-term living conditions for people.

Expressing his emotion at the consensus and sharing of the people in the project area, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son noted that many households have proactively relocated, given up land, and moved houses to serve the project implementation.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested all levels and sectors to organize the implementation of compensation, support, and resettlement work openly and transparently, ensuring that people have new housing and a better livelihood than the old housing.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested investors and construction units to implement the project to ensure progress, quality, safety and the environment; ministries and branches to strengthen coordination, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for localities.

This is a national key project, the Central Government will directly monitor, guide and accompany the locality throughout the implementation process.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and the working delegation presented gifts to exemplary households, setting an example in relocating and giving land to the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project.
