2025 is the first year that students will participate in the exam according to the 2018 general education program, causing many grade 9 students to worry and increase their review. Minh Trung, a student of class 9A7, spends most of his time outside of regular school hours to practice at the center and self-study at home to best prepare for the 10th grade entrance exam. Not only Minh Trung, many other students also come to the center to get acquainted with new exam forms and consolidate knowledge.
According to records, exam preparation centers in Hanoi are operating vigorously as the number of students registering has increased sharply. Ms. Nguyen Minh Hue - Deputy Director of Cuong Phat Education Center - said that the number of training sessions has increased to about 5 sessions/week and all are full. Meanwhile, only about 60% of grade 9 students have the opportunity to go to public schools, creating great pressure on parents and students.
Although review at the center helps students practice their homework skills, according to Dr. Pham Huu Cuong, learning in class and self-study still play an important role. Regarding students who are entitled to a 70% tuition reduction, the Ministry of Education and Training informed:
Point b Clause 1 Article 16 Decree No. 81/2021/ND-CP dated August 27, 2021 of the Government regulating the mechanism for collecting and managing tuition fees for educational institutions in the national education system and policies on tuition exemption, reduction, and support for learning costs; service prices in the field of education and training stipulate the subjects entitled to the policy of 70% tuition reduction as follows:
"Students studying royal music, Cheo, Tuong, Cai Luong, dance, circus; some heavy, toxic, and dangerous occupations for vocational education according to the list of heavy, toxic, and dangerous occupations prescribed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs". See more...
Adjusting tuition support policies, good news for students
The Government has issued Decree 60/2025/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 116/2020/ND-CP to overcome the situation where pedagogical students receive support slowly or do not enjoy policies.
Many pedagogical students expressed their excitement when the tuition and living allowance support policy was paid on time. Sung Thi Bau - a 3rd year student at Thai Nguyen National University of Education said that this change helps her feel secure in her studies, without worrying too much about finances.
Pham Minh Anh - a 3rd year student at the Central University of Art Education shared that he had difficulty receiving lump- sum support after a year. Previously, she had to use a tutoring loan to earn extra money to cover living expenses. Therefore, receiving money on time will help students reduce financial pressure and focus on studying more.
