Da Nang requests urgent review of vehicle prices for calculating registration fees
Da Nang - The City's leaders requested the City Tax to urgently review, update, and adjust the registration fee calculation price for Toyota vehicles and some other vehicle models.
On January 15, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh signed Official Letter No. 277/UBND-KT, requesting the City Tax to urgently inspect, review, and advise the City People's Committee to update, adjust, and supplement the vehicle prices of Toyota and some other types of vehicles according to regulations. Complete before January 20, 2026.
Previously, in Da Nang, there was information that a person went to do procedures to receive a gasoline Yaris Cross, with a listed price of 662 million VND, but was informed by a Toyota auto dealer in the city that the registration fee had increased by more than 8.5 million VND compared to December 2025 (from 65.67 million VND to 74.2 million VND).
At the same time, in the Price List for calculating registration fees for cars and motorbikes in the city attached to the Decision issued by the People's Committee of Da Nang City on December 29, 2025, there is no name of the Toyota Yaris line, some other vehicles are subject to the tax calculation price according to the old price that has not been adjusted.
From information reflected from the people, the City Tax Department discovered that there were negligence in the process of updating the Vehicle Price List to submit to the People's Committee of Da Nang City to issue a Decision. Because it is not included in the Price List applied from January 1, 2026, when a dossier for calculating registration fees for car buyers arises, the tax authority will still apply a temporary Price List according to the price that has not been adjusted down, leading to a difference in increase in registration fees as reported by the press.
Currently, the City Tax is urgently reviewing and advising the City People's Committee to update, adjust and supplement the prices of the above Yaris Cross and some other types of vehicles whose prices have not been adjusted to the price list according to regulations in January 2026. At the same time, the Registration fee notification for vehicle buyers will be adjusted and the registration fee due to difference will be refunded to buyers according to the provisions of the Law on Tax Administration.
