Customs Department announces 10 outstanding events in 2025
The Customs Department voted and announced 10 outstanding events of Vietnam Customs in 2025.
According to the Customs Department, 2025 will mark many important events of the country. Vietnam Customs continues to perform the role of state management of customs, accompanying businesses, facilitating trade, contributing to bringing Vietnam into the group of 25 economies with the largest commercial value in the world.
Based on the summary of the results of the implementation of tasks, the Customs Department voted and announced 10 outstanding events of Vietnam Customs in 2025.
The Customs sector contributes to bringing Vietnam's import-export turnover of goods in 2025 to 900 billion USD
The Customs Department said that total import-export turnover in 2025 will exceed 900 billion USD for the first time, the highest level ever. This result is associated with the synchronous implementation of solutions to both ensure state management of customs and facilitate trade such as reducing procedures time, simplifying administrative procedures, and removing obstacles for businesses.

The Customs sector successfully completed the task of collecting the State budget in 2025 with outstanding results, reaching 468,398 billion VND
In the context of many difficulties, the task of collecting budget revenue is identified as the focus in directing and operating.
Total revenue from import-export activities from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 reached VND 468,398 billion, equal to 114% of the estimate, equal to 99.7% of the target, up 9.3% over the same period in 2024.
The Customs Department resolutely implements Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, streamlines the organizational apparatus
The Customs Department will be reorganized according to a 3-level model including the Customs Department, the Regional Customs Branch, and the Border Gate/outside Border Gate Customs. According to the published information, the whole industry has reduced about 485/902 focal points, equivalent to 53.77%, in which 35 provincial and municipal Customs Departments were reorganized into 20 regional Customs Branches, and at the same time, reorganized units under the previous General Department's agencies and removed the Team/Group level under provincial and municipal branches.
Amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Customs Law: New transition steps to create an open business environment
The Customs Department has proactively reviewed and advised on amending and supplementing the Customs Law in the direction of removing legal bottlenecks and increasing favorable conditions for businesses, including a priority mechanism for high-tech businesses and semiconductor industries.
The amended content was approved and included in Law No. 90/2025/QH15, creating a legal basis for on-site import-export procedures, customs supervision inspections for this type and the "green lane" mechanism in the direction of supporting businesses.

Signing a Customs Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam and the UK
On October 29, 2025, the Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Government of Vietnam, signed an Agreement on cooperation and administrative assistance in the customs sector with the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The agreement is an important legal basis to strengthen bilateral cooperation in information exchange, prevent smuggling and trade fraud and facilitate legal trade, contributing to promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries.
For the first time, the Customs Department has chaired the consultation of the Ministry of Finance to submit to the Government to issue Resolution No. 379/NQ-CP dated December 5, 2025 - an important document guiding the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and intellectual property infringement by 2030.
This is a milestone that clearly demonstrates the core role of the Customs force in protecting the interests of national sovereignty.
The Customs Department stated that in 2025, there will be a situation of smuggling, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement of serious nature. On that basis, the Customs authority will preside over advising on the development of an action plan and submitting to the Government to issue a resolution on the direction of combat work until 2030, as a basis for ministries, branches and localities to implement according to their functions and tasks.
Tighten control, fight against smuggling, trade fraud and intellectual property, prevent drugs
This activity has achieved impressive results, especially in the peak month of the national fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods launched by the Prime Minister under Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg and Directive No. 13/CT-TTg
From December 15, 2024 to December 14, 2025, the Customs agency discovered, arrested and handled 19,1003 cases, the value of violating goods was estimated at VND 22,826 billion; collected VND 1,038 billion to the budget; prosecuted 22 cases, transferred to other agencies to propose prosecuting 127 cases. In drug prevention and control during the same period, 204 cases with 295 subjects were detected, seizing about 2.68 tons of various drugs.
In the peak month from May 15 to June 15, 2025 alone, the Customs force discovered 1,593 cases, worth an estimated VND 3,901 billion; issued 2,780 penalty decisions; collected and paid 19.4 billion VND to the budget; prosecuted 4 cases, transferred 13 cases; the total amount of money collected to the budget was 76.6 billion VND.

Successfully organized the first Congress of the Party Committee of the Customs Department, term 2025-2030
According to the published information, the Party Committee of the Customs Department issued a plan to organize congresses at all levels, determining the content of congresses for newly established party committees and party cells after the restructuring of the apparatus, including summarizing the 2020-2025 term and giving comments on draft documents.
On June 23 and 24, 2025, the Party Committee of the Customs Department held the 1st Congress of Delegates, term 2025-2030 with 250 official delegates, representing 1,248 Party members, agreeing on targets and tasks and determining key tasks and breakthrough tasks in the new term.
Vietnam Customs celebrates 80 years of construction and development, receives First Class Medal of Honor and honors typical advanced examples
In 2025, the Customs sector will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day. On this occasion, the Customs Department was honored to be awarded the First Class Medal of Merit by the Party and State for outstanding contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The series of commemorative activities were organized solemnly and practically, contributing to traditional education, arousing pride, responsibility and dedication of generations of customs officers and civil servants.

Resolutely implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, the Customs Department has developed and put into operation many information technology products
The Customs Department has improved the organization of digital transformation direction, issued an implementation plan, and associated with Project 06, while promoting training and fostering to serve the management and operation of the system.
Many information technology products are put into operation such as version 6 electronic customs clearance system, AVP-eCom, Data Customs, automatic traffic flow function, electronic declaration lookup and centralized operating system, thereby increasing the level of digitalization, automating operations, improving transparency, shortening processing time, supporting businesses to monitor online declaration status.
