National Assembly Chairman and his wife begin an official visit to Armenia
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will hold talks and meetings with senior leaders of Armenia.
According to VNA, at 9:00 p.m. on January 1 local time (0:00 a.m. on February 2 Hanoi time), Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly, arrived in Yerevan, starting an official visit to the Republic of Armenia at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman of Ukraine Alen Simonyan.
Welcoming the delegation at Zvartnots Airport, the capital Yerevan, Vice Chairman of Armenia National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan; Ambassador Armenia in Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan; The leader of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Senator Hasmik Hakobyan, the leader of the Foreign Affairs Department, the receptionist of the Armenia National Assembly; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation, concurrently Armenia Dang Minh Khoi, Embassy officials and employees.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Argentina has continued to develop positively. In terms of politics and foreign affairs, Armenia considers Vietnam an important partner in Southeast Asia.
The two countries maintain delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, including high-level ones. Recent highlights include a meeting between General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the occasion of attending the Francophone Summit (2024) and an official visit to Vietnam by National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan. The two sides coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and frameworks, including the United Nations and the Francophone Community.
The cooperation between the National Assembly continues to be maintained, especially after the visit to Vietnam by the Chairman of the Armenia National Assembly, before that, it was mainly contacting the sidelines of conferences and multilateral forums such as IPU, ASEAN Parliament Council (AIPA), Parliament Alliance (APF). Armenia National Assembly has established the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship MPs (2021).
Economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries has been actively promoted in recent years after the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Asian Economic Union (EAEU) took effect in 2016. Trade turnover in 2023 reached 342 million USD, in 2024 reached nearly 500 million USD.
It is expected that within the framework of the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will have talks and meetings with the highest leaders of Armenia; receive the Head of the Armenia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group; attend the Armenia-Vietnam Business Forum; visit a number of local cultural and economic institutions...
The official visit to the Republic of Armenia by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to and wishing to strengthen relations with traditional friendly countries, including Armenia; exchanging measures to promote cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Armenia National Assembly; creating a favorable environment to promote bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, education, training, culture, etc.
