Dong Nai builds thousands of social housing, opening up housing opportunities for workers
Dong Nai City is implementing a series of social housing (NƠXH) projects to help workers escape the situation of renting rooms.
Workers hope to escape living in rented rooms
Dong Nai is one of the leading industrial centers in the country with 44 operating industrial parks, attracting 680,000 workers.
However, many worker families are still living in cramped private rented rooms, lacking security and amenities. Many families with young children have to fend for themselves in 15-25m2 rented rooms, while bearing many costs such as rent, electricity, water, food and tuition fees for their children.
According to statistics from the Dong Nai Trade Union, the housing demand of workers, especially in industrial parks, is very large. There are about 150,000 rooms in the area, meeting the accommodation needs of 450,000 workers with prices ranging from 700,000 VND to 1.5 million VND/month.
Ms. Vu Thi Duyen (43 years old, from Hung Yen) started working as a worker at TKG Taekwang Vina Joint Stock Company, Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park from 2003, until now she and her son still have to live in a rented house with a price of 1.5 million VND/month but has deteriorated and dilapidated. Her child's study corner is just a folding table placed right in the middle of the rented room.
Ms. Duyen said: "I want Dong Nai City to build more social housing for workers to rent to reduce difficulties, and at the same time ensure security and order conditions, have good facilities, prices suitable for workers' pockets, and realize the dream of settling down and starting a career on Dong Nai land.
From this reality, in June 2026, Dong Nai City started construction of the Long Binh social housing project for rent on a land area of about 1.52ha in Long Binh ward. According to the planning orientation, the entire area will develop about 10,000 social housing apartments for rent along with a synchronous social infrastructure system including schools at all levels, kindergartens, green parks and many public service works serving residents.
The project implementation area is located in areas concentrated with many key industrial parks such as: Amata, Bien Hoa II, Ho Nai, Loteco and Agtex Long Binh. This is also an area with a very large demand for stable, safe and affordable rental housing suitable for workers' affordability.
Comfortable life of workers' families in social housing
In addition to the social housing project for rent, Dong Nai City is simultaneously implementing 17 other social housing projects, the total social housing target of Dong Nai City in the 2026-2030 period is more than 60,000 units.
The social housing project in Phuoc Tan Ward Residential and Resettlement Area has an area of about 4ha, with a scale of nearly 1,200 apartments. Up to now, households have been granted certificates of land use rights and house ownership, including many workers.
Ms. Huynh Siu Get is a worker at TKG Taekwang Vina Joint Stock Company in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park, Tran Bien Ward, Dong Nai City. After 3 years of living in a cramped rented house, lacking security conditions, Ms. Get's family moved to live in the NƠXH Apartment in Phuoc Tan Ward, Dong Nai City for more than 2 months and has a new safe and comfortable life to raise 2 young children; at the same time, convenient for Ms. Get to go to work.
And Mr. Truong Minh Thuan's family (56 years old) has moved to Phuoc Tan Ward Social Housing Apartment for 8 months to help his children go to work in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park very conveniently. Mr. Thuan said that in the past, the old house in Huong Phuoc Quarter, Phuoc Tan Ward was often flooded, now moving to a new place is tall and secure, so he feels very comfortable.
According to An Hung Phat Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (the project investor), when completed, the social housing project will provide stable, convenient and safe accommodation for officials, civil servants, and low-income people.
