Many Phu Tho officials hope to soon access social housing
Many officials in Phu Tho expressed their desire to access social housing to reduce the pressure of rent.
Commercial housing is a difficult problem
Ms. Nguyen Hong Hanh, 34 years old, an official at a department in Phu Tho province, said that after the merger, her agency moved from the old Hoa Binh to Viet Tri ward. Therefore, she and her husband and 6-year-old son had to rent a room to live in. The rented house costs nearly 2 million VND/month.
The civil servant salary is not high, so my husband and I want to buy a social housing. If the house price is from 12-15 million VND/m2, we can mobilize to borrow from both families, plus savings to access it" - Ms. Hanh shared.
Not only Ms. Hanh's family, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga is also renting a house in Viet Tri with her husband and two young children. Her family has lived in a rented house for more than 1 year.
With a total income of about 20 million VND per month, most of the money is spent on taking care of two children and living expenses. Rent becomes an additional burden in the family's spending problem.
Therefore, the desire to have a stable place to live is becoming increasingly urgent. Ms. Nga said that her family hopes to soon have the opportunity to buy social housing to reduce the pressure of renting and stabilize their long-term life.
For many young families, a house is not just a place to shelter from rain and sun. It is also a foundation for children to study and live stably and for workers to feel secure in their work. However, with the current income level, buying a commercial house is still a difficult problem.
Increasing the supply of social housing
According to the Phu Tho Provincial Department of Construction, after the merger of 3 provinces Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh, the total number of officials, civil servants, and public employees of Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh registered for residence is 4,405 people. Among them, there are 270 officials under the management of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and 4,135 civil servants and public employees.
Over the past time, Phu Tho province has had many plans to renovate and arrange accommodation for officials, civil servants, and public employees. The province is studying the construction of a new public housing area in the premises of the Provincial Conference Center to meet the needs.
Along with arranging accommodation, Phu Tho province requests to accelerate the progress of social housing projects. Those who meet the conditions according to regulations, especially those with housing difficulties, are prioritized to access social housing.
In early September 2026, the Department of Construction of Phu Tho province publicly announced the list of 326 housing projects being implemented in the area.
In the former Phu Tho area, there are 14 social housing projects preparing to be implemented. Among these, noteworthy are the Thuy Van high-rise independent social housing area of Dai Kim Phu Tho Joint Stock Company, with an investment capital of more than VND 3.06 billion; Thang Long Viet Tri project of Thang Long Urban Development and Construction Joint Stock Company, with an investment capital of more than VND 1,919 billion.
When the supply is supplemented, families who are renting houses like Ms. Hanh and Ms. Nga will have more opportunities to access social housing suitable to their financial capacity, gradually stabilizing their lives after the process of local arrangement and merger.
