In the first 8 months of 2026, Khanh Hoa Trade Union advised, guided and directly supported many cases of union members and workers (NLĐ) being owed salaries, late payments or not paying social insurance (BHXH)...
Many workers reflect being owed wages
In mid-August 2026, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) received a petition from Mr. Nguyen Van Duc (character name changed at request), residing in Tay Nha Trang ward, requesting support due to being owed salaries and social insurance (BHXH) by businesses.
Mr. Duc signed a 1-year labor contract and worked actually at the enterprise until the end of June 2026. During the working period, he fully performed the work and obligations under the contract. However, the enterprise violated the obligation to pay salaries and pay social insurance. In which, February salary should have been paid on time, but by May Mr. Duc received it in full, about 3 months late. By June, the enterprise only paid a part of March salary with the amount of 2 million VND, and the remaining 2 million VND has not been paid.
As of August 2026, the total amount of salary the business still owes Mr. Duc is 14 million VND. Mr. Duc has contacted and requested payment many times and received promises from the business but has not been resolved.
Upon receiving information, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation assigned officials in charge to guide employees to take steps to claim their rights. At the same time, the Trade Union contacted and sent documents to businesses and relevant agencies, requesting businesses to comply with regulations.
Previously, in July 2026, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation received a complaint from Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vu (name of the character changed) complaining about a company with a branch in Nha Trang about salary arrears. According to the complaint, Mr. Vu started working at the enterprise on May 19, 2025, with the position of general accountant, with a probation period of 2 months. After that, Mr. Vu was appointed as chief accountant cum head of the administrative - personnel department.
Seeing that it was not suitable for the working environment, on July 5, 2025, Mr. Vu applied for leave from July 8, 2025. However, up to now, Mr. Vu has not received the salary for June 2025 and the salary for 6 working days in July 2025. The total amount the business still owes is 18.7 million VND.
After studying the content of the complaint, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation guided employees to directly complain to the Company's Board of Directors and related units for resolution, protecting legitimate rights and interests.
These are 2 of 90 cases of union members and workers whose rights are affected and are being consulted and supported by the Provincial Labor Federation to claim legitimate rights and are being resolved.
Supporting 21 workers to sue
Statistics for the first 9 months of 2026, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation has provided telephone counseling for 45 visits and direct counseling for 45 union members and workers. The main counseling content relates to termination of labor contracts, wages, bonuses, social insurance, annual leave, occupational safety and health...
Notably, in the first 9 months of 2026, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation supported 21 employees to authorize lawsuits against businesses that still owed debts. The total amount related to nearly 1.13 billion VND of social insurance money and more than 433 million VND of salary, deposit, and franchise car money. The People's Court of District 1 has considered and resolved 4 dossiers of social insurance debts of employees, and the business has paid 90 million VND to 3 employees.
According to Mr. Dao Quoc Truong - Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Committee of Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, many workers only come to the Trade Union when their rights have been affected. Therefore, proactively learning about legal regulations, keeping labor contracts, salary scales and related documents will help workers have a basis to protect their rights when disputes arise.
In most cases, after being guided, they have taken the right steps to protect their rights. For necessary cases, the Provincial Labor Federation will directly work with businesses to support dialogue and negotiation" - Mr. Truong emphasized.
