Recruiting 150,000 workers in the construction sector, Ho Chi Minh City sets out 4 groups of solutions
Ho Chi Minh City - More than 150,000 job positions in the construction industry are in need of recruitment as the City simultaneously implements many large-scale public investment projects.
On September 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs said that, according to data from the City Employment Service Center, there are more than 150,000 recruitment positions from companies in the construction sector registering recruitment needs at the Center.
Currently, with the simultaneous deployment of many mega projects, the human resource problem of the construction industry in the City is facing a local shortage.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs, the main reason stems from the specific nature of the construction industry, which is hard and arduous, making it difficult to retain workers.
Most unskilled workers tend to prefer short-term jobs, receiving contract salaries instead of signing long-term labor contracts. In addition, fierce competition to attract labor from industrial parks and the service sector has strongly shared the human resource supply of the construction industry" - a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs said.
To solve the immediate and long-term human resource problem, the City is focusing on synchronously deploying groups of solutions. First, promote the connection of labor supply and demand, and organize job transaction sessions both in person and online.

The City Employment Service Center and the Youth Employment Service Center proactively coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, wards and industrial parks, export processing zones to advise and introduce jobs for people looking for jobs, new graduates and especially soldiers preparing to be discharged.
Second, expand the network to attract regional linked labor. The City Employment Service Center has signed a memorandum of coordination with the Employment Service Centers of 11 neighboring provinces and cities. Through this, sharing common data on recruitment needs and unemployment insurance helps regulate and quickly attract labor forces from neighboring localities to work in Ho Chi Minh City.
Third, it is proposed that contractors and businesses with project construction human resource needs coordinate with the City Employment Service Center to provide detailed information on locations, quantities, and salaries to the Job Exchange. This helps increase transparency and quickly reach millions of workers in need in the digital environment.
Fourth, coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training to continue orienting vocational education institutions to expand targets, directly link with businesses to train according to needs. At the same time, the City recommends that construction businesses need to have policies to improve the working environment, strengthen welfare and labor safety regimes to keep workers attached for a long time.
