The "Trade Union Meal" program not only improves the quality of meals but also strengthens the connection between union members and workers with businesses.

Meal of affection

According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, the "Trade Union Meal" program in 2026 is being implemented in many businesses, agencies, and units, contributing to improving the quality of lunch meals and increasing the connection between union members and workers with trade union organizations and businesses.

To date, 89 grassroots trade unions have organized the program, with 86,056 union members and workers benefiting; the total additional budget is more than 10.1 billion VND.

At Van Loi Import-Export Garment Co., Ltd. (Thang Binh commune, Thanh Hoa province), Trade Union meals increased the value of meals from 25,000 VND to 75,000 VND, 3 times higher than daily meals. The menu has been improved with dishes such as chicken, shrimp, pork and drinking water, better meeting the nutritional needs of workers.

This is the best meal in nearly 3 years of my work at the business" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - union member of Van Loi Import-Export Garment Co., Ltd. - shared.

Ms. Le Cam Tu - Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union of Van Loi Import-Export Garment Co., Ltd. - said that the trade union coordinates with businesses to survey the needs of workers to develop menus. Due to the large number of workers, the company arranges many meal shifts from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, ensuring that meals are sufficient in quantity, quality, nutrition and do not affect production.

Similarly, at THN Automotive Systems Vietnam Co., Ltd., the "Trade Union Meal" program was organized for 899 workers. Each meal is worth 77,000 VND, an increase of 50,000 VND compared to the daily shift meal. The menu is supplemented with many dishes, contributing to improving the quality of meals and creating a joyful atmosphere for workers after working hours.

Ms. Le Thi Ha - a worker at THN Automotive Systems Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that in addition to regular care activities such as periodic health check-ups, giving gifts on holidays and Tet and visiting when encountering difficulties, the "Trade Union Meal" program is a practical activity, showing concern for workers' health. Ms. Ha hopes that the Trade Union organization and business leaders will continue to maintain and expand care activities so that workers have more benefits in the working process.

Connection from meals

According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, the "Trade Union Meal" program in 2026 is implemented based on the guidance of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. To date, 100% of commune and ward trade unions and grassroots trade unions directly under the Provincial Labor Federation have developed plans to implement the program, in which special attention is paid to grassroots trade unions in enterprises.

Statistics show that the total additional budget of the "Trade Union Meal" program in the province reached more than 10.1 billion VND. Of which, provincial-level trade unions supported more than 448 million VND; grassroots trade unions supported more than 1.6 billion VND and other sources contributed nearly 8 billion VND.

In addition to increasing the value of meals, many grassroots trade unions also coordinate with businesses to organize cultural exchange activities, give gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, celebrate birthdays and admit new union members. The participation of business leaders and representatives of higher-level trade unions at meals creates opportunities for workers to directly share their thoughts, aspirations, and reflect difficulties in work and life.

According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, in the coming time, the program will continue to be maintained and expanded with flexible organizational forms, suitable for each type of business. For units that do not have collective kitchens or have few union members and employees, trade union levels need to study appropriate organizational forms so that employees at these units have the opportunity to enjoy the program.
