At Lao Cai Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, grassroots trade unions are becoming a fulcrum for union members and workers to feel secure in their work, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.

Caring from practical things

Lao Cai Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital is a specialized hospital of grade II, basic level, assigned 180 beds in 2026. With the characteristics of medical examination and treatment, functional rehabilitation and development of traditional medicine, 125 union members, officials and employees at the hospital regularly have to undertake a large workload, requiring a high sense of responsibility.

In that specific environment, behind each examination, each hour of treatment are pressures that are not easy to see. Highland doctors must both ensure expertise and regularly contact patients, taking care of cases that need long-term treatment.

Understanding that, the Trade Union of Lao Cai Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital determined that caring for the lives and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers is one of the key tasks.

The Trade Union regularly coordinates with the Board of Directors to grasp the thoughts and circumstances of union members; promptly visits and encourages when union members are sick, childbirth, funerals, or weddings.

Not only caring for when union members encounter difficulties, the trade union also participates in improving working conditions, ensuring safety and occupational hygiene. The unit has spent nearly 83 million VND on labor safety propaganda, environmental monitoring; maintaining meal allowances and hazardous food allowances with a budget of nearly 70 million VND per year.

Thanks to practical care policies, the average income of employees at the hospital reached about 16.8 million VND/person/month.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Song Huong - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Lao Cai Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, caring for union members is not simply material support but also creating an environment for workers to feel cared for, respected and have more motivation to contribute.

We determine that caring for union members and workers is contributing to building a humane, professional and sustainable healthcare environment. When union members are cared for, respected and have conditions to develop their abilities, they will have more motivation to wholeheartedly care for patients and complete their assigned tasks well" - Ms. Huong shared.

A support to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment

Not separated from professional tasks, the grassroots Trade Union of Lao Cai Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital actively coordinates with the Board of Directors to participate in building internal regulations, effectively implement grassroots democracy regulations and organize annual conferences of officials, employees, and workers.

From the stability of ideology and working environment, the hospital's professional activities continue to be maintained. From the beginning of 2026 to now, the hospital has performed 13,929 visits, the patient satisfaction rate reached 99.8%.

In-depth treatment models such as thread embedding, sleep disease treatment, musculoskeletal, sports injuries... continue to be maintained effectively, serving 732 patient visits.

To meet the increasing demands in healthcare, training and capacity building are also focused on by the hospital. Currently, 26 officials are being sent for long-term training. Medical record review, professional activities, and training are maintained regularly, creating conditions for the team of doctors and nurses to update knowledge and improve their skills.

Along with caring for life and creating professional motivation, grassroots trade unions also focus on building spiritual life for union members through cultural, artistic, physical education, and sports activities.

Collective activities become an opportunity for doctors, medical staff, civil servants and employees to be closer and share with each other more. That connection contributes to creating a positive working environment, where each member has more motivation to accompany the collective.
