Dien Bien and 5 northern provinces of Laos share experiences in caring for workers

On September 25, information from the Dien Bien Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) said that the unit had just organized talks to exchange trade union operating experiences with the Trade Union Union Union of 5 northern provinces of Laos: Luang Prabang, Luang Namtha, Phong Sa Ly, Udomxay and Bo Keo.

The program was attended by representatives of leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Provincial Police, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province and trade union officials of the two countries.

Speaking at the talks, Mr. Tan Minh Long - Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial Labor Federation emphasized that the trade union organizations of both sides have a common mission to focus on grassroots levels, putting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members first.

By mid-2026, Dien Bien Trade Union has 81 grassroots trade unions with over 6,600 union members; in the past time, it has newly admitted 1,778 union members, established 17 grassroots trade unions and promoted digital transformation in management.

At the working session, representatives of the Trade Union of 5 northern provinces of Laos and the host unit focused on discussing solutions to innovate operating methods, develop union members in enterprises, train officials and skills to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers.

The two sides affirmed that these practical experiences will help improve the quality of the workers' movement in accordance with the specific characteristics of each locality.

According to the cooperation plan, the two sides will regularly maintain delegation exchange activities; it is expected that in 2028, the Dien Bien Provincial Labor Federation will visit and exchange experiences in the northern provinces of Laos.
