Hai Phong grassroots trade union proactively innovates activities in the new era
Hai Phong - In the afternoon of September 25, the City Labor Federation organized a seminar on innovating the organization and methods of working of grassroots trade unions in industrial parks.
Information at the seminar, as of September 2026, Hai Phong industrial parks and economic zones have 375,347 workers, including 363,605 Vietnamese workers and 11,742 foreign workers. Average income reached 12.69 million VND/person/month.
Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet - Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation emphasized that the new era opens up many opportunities for the Trade Union. As the economy continues to expand, industrial parks and economic zones develop, the industrial labor force increases, and the operating space and representative responsibility of the Trade Union are also greater.

Going hand in hand with opportunities are challenges such as rapidly changing labor structure, increasing recruitment demand, and increasingly diverse labor relations. Meanwhile, a part of grassroots trade union officials still mainly work with experience, part-time, lacking time and tools.
Therefore, innovating the organization and operating methods of grassroots trade unions must start from the way of organizing work, operating methods, starting from the needs of workers; care must be directed towards both immediate and long-term benefits such as stable employment, income, safety, skills and adaptability.

At the seminar, delegates raised the issue that grassroots trade unions need to identify changes in jobs, income, skills and workers' psychology earlier, instead of just getting involved when workers are already upset or businesses have problems arising. From the opinions at the seminar, representatives of the City Labor Federation affirmed that they will accompany and support grassroots trade unions in terms of data, laws, dialogue - negotiation skills, cadre training and technology application. At the same time, encourage grassroots cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to try new approaches based on functions, laws and bring practical benefits to union members and workers.
