Important orientations of Quang Nam province and Da Nang city
Quang Nam leaders affirmed that the merger with Da Nang is the right policy, opening up more strong development space for both localities.
On the afternoon of April 3, at a press conference on the socio-economic situation in the first quarter and key tasks in the second quarter of 2025, Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province mentioned important orientations in the future of Quang Nam province and Da Nang city.
He emphasized that previously, provincial separation was reasonable, but in the current context, the merger will create greater development momentum. "The development space of Da Nang City is very cramped, while Quang Nam has the advantage of a large land fund. The two merged localities will help make the most of the potential, creating new momentum, said Mr. Dung.
According to the Chairman of Quang Nam province, the Central Government has agreed on the policy of merging two administrative units. However, important contents such as the location of the administrative center and the name of the new province are still being studied.
The Politburo assigned Quang Nam and Da Nang to establish a Steering Committee to implement the arrangement. Currently, the authorities are drafting a project to submit to the Standing Committees of the two localities for consideration. "After the merger, we will concretize the merger," Mr. Dung informed.
He also emphasized that all decisions will be carefully discussed by the Standing Committees of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee and Da Nang City. For important issues, the Central Committee will be consulted to ensure the merger process takes place smoothly and effectively.
The merger of Quang Nam - Da Nang is not only a simple administrative event, but also a great opportunity for the two localities to develop strongly, make the most of their advantages, attract investment and improve the quality of life for the people.
