Free congenital heart disease screening for about 2,000 children in Vinh Long
Vinh Long - About 2,000 children are examined and screened for congenital heart disease for free, helping to detect diseases early for timely treatment and intervention.
On July 26, Vinh Long Provincial Department of Health coordinated with Children's Hospital 1, Tam Binh Regional General Hospital and related units to organize a free congenital heart disease examination and screening program for children under 16 years old at facility 2, hamlet 10, Hoa Hiep commune.
A team of cardiologists led by Dr. Do Nguyen Tin - Head of Interventional Cardiology Unit, Children's Hospital 1 - directly examined, ultrasoned and screened about 2,000 children. The program aims to detect early cases of congenital heart disease or suspected cases.
Through examination, doctors assess cardiovascular health status, advise parents on disease risks, and at the same time guide cases that need to be monitored or transferred to continue in-depth examination and treatment according to the correct protocol.
According to the health sector, congenital heart disease screening is important in taking care of children's health. Early detection helps improve treatment effectiveness, limit complications, reduce the burden on families and create conditions for children to develop healthily.
This is an activity within a series of community health care programs towards the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27), contributing to bringing in-depth medical services closer to people, especially children in grassroots areas.
In addition to medical examination, people are also guided to install the Electronic Health Record and the "Doctor for Every Home" application, and update medical examination results to the health data system. The program is implemented from socialized sources and operating funds of the health sector.
