Thousands of new roofs from the temporary house removal program

Hữu Long - Thanh Thúy (báo lao động) 11/05/2026 16:41 (GMT+7)

From the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, thousands of poor and near-poor households in Khanh Hoa have new homes, adding motivation to rise out of poverty.

Joy in the new house

At the beginning of May 2025, Mr. Trinh Huu Hao's family in Hoa Do 3 residential group, Bac Cam Ranh ward moved into a new house after many difficult years. The house has a budget of about 170 million VND, of which the province's program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses supports 60 million VND, and the rest is borrowed from relatives.

Mr. Hao belongs to a near-poor household. Many years working as a fishing net maker to earn a living, but for about 2 years now, he has been ill and no longer able to work. His wife stays at home to take care of her husband, and the family of 3 mainly depends on the precarious income of his son.

In that situation, building a solid house was something his family did not dare to think of. "I really did not dare to believe that one day I would live in this spacious house. Since having a new house, I am very happy, as if given more motivation. I only know to thank the Party, the State, people and local authorities for helping my family have a stable home" - Mr. Hao said emotionally.

Mr. Hao's family is one of thousands of cases supported by the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in the period 2024 - 2025.

Joining hands for the goal of no more poor households

To complete a large volume of work in a short time, the locality has mobilized the synchronous involvement of the entire political system.

From the Program Steering Committee, Party committees, authorities, Fronts at all levels to socio-political organizations, villages, and residential groups, all participate in reviewing, supporting and removing difficulties for people in the process of implementing housing construction.

In addition to resources from the State, many businesses and philanthropists also joined hands to contribute funds, materials and support working days to help the program be implemented more effectively.

Ms. Tran Thu Mai - Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa province assessed that the program achieved positive results thanks to the close direction of provincial leaders and the synchronous coordination of localities and the joint efforts of the community.

This is an important factor helping the program to complete and hand over houses to people ahead of schedule by 6 months compared to the target assigned by the Central Government and 2 months earlier than the province's plan, as of August 2025.

After the peak period, in 2026, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province will continue to coordinate with sectors and localities to review poor and near-poor households and difficult cases that do not yet meet the conditions to enjoy policies to mobilize resources to support housing construction and repair.

The locality also continues to implement livelihood support solutions such as capital, breeds, vocational training and job creation, helping people stabilize their lives.

According to the leaders of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, these are important solutions to help poor households have conditions to develop the economy, improve income and escape poverty sustainably. That is also the foundation for the locality to gradually realize the goal of no poor households in the province by 2030.
