On April 20, at the meeting to deploy the "Banking Industry Digital Transformation" Contest 2026, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Pham Tien Dung requested that initiatives must closely follow reality, have the ability to be applied and replicated, contributing to solving nghiệp vụ problems.

The contest is organized in the form of stage performance.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Bank Union said that the "Banking Industry Digital Transformation" Contest 2026 is scheduled to take place on May 22, and the awards gala will be held on the morning of May 23 with the slogan "Proactive Digitalization - Breakthrough to the Future".

The contest is for union members and workers of directly superior grassroots trade unions, grassroots trade unions directly under the Vietnam Bank Union and units, credit institutions, and financial technology companies operating in the Banking sector. Currently, 32 units have registered to participate in the contest.

The teams will participate in staged form, including rounds: Round 1: Show off strength (introduce the team). Each team briefly introduces their unit (from where, unit characteristics...) through staged form. On that basis, the team conveys a message, viewpoint or approach to the theme of digital transformation in the Banking industry, expressing identity, innovative thinking and the spirit of readiness to adapt in the digital age. Round 2: Conquering the digital age (understanding knowledge about digital transformation). Contestants use technology equipment prepared by the Organizing Committee to answer multiple-choice questions including 20 questions, divided into 2 rounds, each round 10 questions. Round 3: Creating a digital future (suggestions on digital transformation in the Banking industry).

Digital transformation is not just an inevitable trend

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Tien Dung - Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Chairman of the Vietnam Bank Union; Head of the Steering Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest - emphasized that in the current period, digital transformation is not only an inevitable trend but has become an urgent requirement, a key driving force to promote innovation in the growth model of the banking industry.

Under the leadership and direction of the State Bank, the entire sector is strongly implementing action programs to implement the National Digital Transformation Strategy, towards forming a modern, safe, efficient and inclusive digital banking ecosystem.

In that context, the "Banking Industry Digital Transformation" Contest 2026 is organized as a practical activity to concretize the directions of the State Bank, contributing to promoting awareness, developing digital capacity and arousing the spirit of innovation in the team of officials and employees throughout the industry.

The contest is also an opportunity for units to exchange, learn, share experiences and propose practical solutions, thereby directly contributing to the digital transformation process of each agency, unit and the entire system, practically contributing to responding to the "Digital Literacy" movement and the Digital Transformation Day of the Banking sector, promoting the dissemination of digital skills, forming digital thinking and culture in each official, union member, and employee...

Mr. Pham Tien Dung also said that the purpose of the Contest is also to equip knowledge for a large number of union members and workers throughout the industry. Therefore, the Deputy Governor, Chairman of the Vietnam Bank Union, requested units to use the set of questions to organize the contest at their units.

At the meeting, representatives of Vietcombank - the focal point for organizing the contest - answered some contents related to the contest. In addition, 32 units drew lots for the theme of offering ideas and the order of the rounds.
