Vietnam Bank Trade Union spends more than VND 4,200 billion to take care of employees

Attending the Congress were Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - along with leaders and former leaders of the State Bank, the Vietnam Bank Trade Union and 297 official delegates representing more than 200,000 union members and workers working in the Vietnam Bank Trade Union system.

This is an important political event for the team of cadres, union members, and workers in the banking sector, organized and implemented according to Directive No. 48-CT/TW dated June 24, 2024 of the Central Party Secretariat on leadership of the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels.

At the first session held on the afternoon of December 25, the Congress listened to the Review Report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union, term VII; discussed and commented on the draft amendments and supplements to the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union and contents related to the Trade Union organization in the new period. With a democratic and responsible spirit, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union, term VIII, 2025 - 2030.

The Congress took place in the context of the country continuing to promote innovation, digital transformation and streamlining the organization of the political system; the banking sector plays a key role in stabilizing the macro economy, controlling inflation, supporting growth and ensuring social security. The Congress is an important milestone, marking more than 30 years of building and developing the Vietnam Bank Trade Union - one of the major industry trade unions, with an important position and role in the Vietnam Trade Union system.

During the past term, closely following the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union has focused on leading and directing the entire system to effectively perform the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; accompanying the profession to successfully complete the political tasks of the banking sector.

Caring for union members' lives continues to be a highlight. In the period of 2023 - 2025, the whole system has spent more than 4,200 billion VND on welfare programs, supporting union members and workers; promptly supporting workers affected by organizational restructuring, natural disasters, epidemics and especially difficult circumstances. 100% of employees are signed labor contracts and fully participate in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance according to regulations.

Patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the movement "Good workers, creative workers", were widely deployed, attracting a large number of union members to participate. The cultural and sports movement is widely organized with 95% of grassroots trade unions implementing activities, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, connecting union members and workers.

At the second session - the solemn session held on the morning of December 26, the Congress listened to a summary of the Report of the 7th Executive Committee; Report on the synthesis of opinions and recommendations of union members and employees; presentations to clarify outstanding results and effective models in the activities of the banking industry trade union.

The Congress proposed two breakthroughs in the 2025 - 2030 term, including: First, synchronously implementing the Comprehensive Digital Transformation Project for the activities of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union for the period 2025 - 2030; promoting the application of technology in union member management, finance, emulation - reward and innovation of propaganda and interaction with union members.

Second, effectively implement the pilot project of the centralized, consistent, effective and efficient banking industry union model; promote the development of union members, establish grassroots unions at credit institutions, foreign banks and foreign bank branches in Vietnam.

Speaking at the Congress, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang and Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Thi Hong highly appreciated the activities of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union.

Programs, movements and activities have been implemented synchronously and effectively, clearly demonstrating their role as a reliable bridge, where the strength of more than 20,000 cadres, union members and workers in the whole industry gathers.

In the coming time, one of the proposals of the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to the Vietnam Bank Trade Union is to continue to perform well the function of caring for, representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.

Promote digital transformation in Trade Union activities, considering this a breakthrough priority; improve the quality of trade union cadres, focus on training and fostering to improve the capacity and operational skills of trade union cadres at all levels, especially enhancing the capacity of grassroots trade unions, doing a good job of training and selecting grassroots trade union cadres so that union members and workers are increasingly attached to their organizations.

On this occasion, the Governor of the State Bank emphasized that the Vietnam Bank Trade Union is always the center of solidarity, contributing significantly to the common achievements of the banking industry and the Trade Union organization.

The Governor emphasized a number of key tasks in the coming time. In particular, proactively and promptly taking advantage of the direction of the Party Committee, coordinating with the professional organization to launch extensive and practical emulation movements, associated with the implementation of the tasks of the unit and the banking industry. focus on promoting innovation, promoting initiatives, applying modern technology, reducing costs, and improving the quality of banking services.
