Workers hope to have a July 27th holiday to show gratitude to people with meritorious services
The proposal to add July 27 as a full-wage holiday has received the consensus of workers.
According to them, this holiday will create conditions for each person to directly participate in memorial activities, expressing gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution.
Recently, some members of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Society proposed to add War Invalids and Martyrs' Day July 27 every year as a full-wage holiday for workers, in order to create conditions for people to participate in activities to show gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution.
For many workers, if the proposal is approved, this holiday will not only help them proactively arrange time for their families but also have more opportunities to directly participate in memorial and gratitude activities in the locality.
Young people hope to have more time to participate in gratitude activities
Ms. Nguyen Xuan Ly (23 years old, office worker), who has been working for 3 years, believes that the proposal to take full-time leave on July 27 will create conditions for workers to be more proactive in participating in activities to show gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution.
Ms. Ly said that before, she used to participate in cleaning cemeteries, historical film screenings in the locality, and also went with her family to offer incense and light candles in gratitude. However, because July 27 is still a normal working day, arranging time is sometimes inconvenient.
If I get a break, I will have more time to participate in activities to show gratitude and remember people who have contributed to the country, instead of just following through newspapers or social networks," Ms. Ly shared.
According to Ms. Xuan Ly, this holiday will help young people have more opportunities to learn about history, sacrifices and contributions of previous generations.
Workers agree with the July 27th holiday proposal
Also expressing agreement with the proposal, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hau - an assembly worker at Thang Long Industrial Park (Hanoi), from Nghe An - said that having one more full-time day off will help workers more conveniently participate in activities to show gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution.
For workers working on a shift-based schedule, participating in local activities is sometimes not easy because it also depends on the working hours and holiday schedule of the business.

Mr. Hau believes that the meaning of July 27th is not only in commemorating but also in educating tradition, reminding today's generations about the sacrifice of their predecessors.
When there is a suitable time, workers can go with their families to martyrs' cemeteries, participate in incense offering ceremonies or gratitude activities at their place of residence.
According to Mr. Hau, taking a day off to show gratitude is also an opportunity for each person to better recognize their responsibility in preserving and promoting the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source".
This is not only an activity of personal or family significance but also contributes to spreading gratitude in the community.
