Trade unions support workers' initiatives
The Trade Union of the Industry and Trade sector accompanies and encourages workers to propose initiatives, improve productivity and contribute to business development.
Creativity associated with productivity and income
In implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, workers both benefit from technological achievements and directly create changes in production and business. From daily work, many initiatives have helped businesses save costs, improve the working environment and improve production efficiency. From emulation movements from 2021-2025, there have been over 480,000 initiatives, technical improvements, and useful solutions applied in practice, contributing to improving labor productivity, improving product quality, reducing costs, improving production and business efficiency and business competitiveness.
To promote that potential, workers need to be equipped with knowledge and skills, encouraged to propose ideas and recognize contributions. Trade unions play a role in accompanying and connecting workers with businesses, making innovation a regular activity.
Exchanging at the seminar "Workers and Innovation" organized by Lao Dong Newspaper on September 28, Mr. Le An Hai - Chairman of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union - assessed that the creative capacity of workers in the Industry and Trade sector is very good, clearly shown through the practice of Trade Union activities at enterprises.
The Industry and Trade sector has a wide scope of operations, from production and business to trade and services, with the participation of state-owned enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises, private enterprises and other economic sectors. In that environment, workers' initiatives are very diverse and flexible, associated with specific production conditions and processes.
According to Mr. Hai, applying science, technology and innovation to improve productivity, product quality, and competitiveness is an inherent requirement of businesses, employers, and employees. The ultimate efficiency is also linked to the income and wages of employees.
Vietnamese workers have a lot of potential" - Mr. Le An Hai emphasized.

From practical observations, Mr. Hai said that workers are proactively creative, and there is also care and coordination between employers, grassroots trade unions and workers. Exploiting this potential requires appropriate support mechanisms. Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW creates more conditions to promote that process.
The Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade coordinates with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to launch an emulation movement right from the beginning of the year, associated with the goal of economic development. The contents are implemented regularly, with monthly and quarterly reviews and lessons learned.
Mr. Hai affirmed that this activity is carried out regularly and continuously. From planning, assigning implementation to inspection, supervision, evaluation and commendation, trade union levels all have specific responsibilities.
Through this, the Trade Union organization acknowledged the efforts of workers, and at the same time assessed the coordination of businesses in promoting initiatives. According to Mr. Hai, initiatives in the industry in the past time have brought tens of trillions of VND in benefits to businesses.
Recording ideas, the Trade Union applies many forms of encouragement
To encourage workers to participate, grassroots trade unions apply many forms of encouragement both materially and spiritually. Some units set a goal for each worker to strive for an initiative or useful solution for the business. Some units immediately reward 200,000 VND, 500,000 VND or 1 million VND for workers who make recommendations to reduce energy costs, production and business costs, improve the working environment or propose creative ideas.
After the initial incentive step, the ideas are reviewed and evaluated to select proposals with practical value for application. When initiatives and solutions bring practical benefits, employees continue to be rewarded at a certain rate on the value gained that has been evaluated.
Along with material rewards, preliminary and summary rounds of emulation movements are an occasion to honor individuals and collectives. The form of recognition includes certificates of merit from the Industry Trade Union, emulation flags for units, and proposals for commendation at the level of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor or the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
One content mentioned by Mr. Hai is the coordination between the Trade Union and employers to incorporate commitments to innovation into collective labor agreements. Through this, workers see their contributions being valued and clearly realize their role in business development.
In addition to propaganda, the Vietnam Trade and Industry Union also organizes training, orientation, and support for workers to raise awareness. When encouraged and recognized, workers have more motivation to contribute initiatives, improve productivity, and create value for businesses, industries and the country.
