Railway industry spends more than 27.865 billion VND to care for people in difficult circumstances
From the beginning of 2026 to now, Vietnam Railway Trade Union levels have promoted the work of caring for union members and workers and social security work.
On April 14, Mr. Ha Trong Thang - Chairman of the Vietnam Railways Trade Union (VNR) said that, implementing Joint Plan No. 4685/KH-TLĐ dated December 18, 2025 on caring for the lives of workers and serving transportation, ensuring security and safety during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, with the motto "All workers have Tet", trade unions and professional departments at all levels have developed plans and organized implementations suitable to the actual conditions of each unit.
At the industry level, the Corporation and the Vietnam Railways Trade Union have supported the organization of Tet reunion for workers at 283 stations on the national railway network; supported and coordinated with units to organize "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" at 26 stations; presented gifts, encouraged, and wished Tet to 770 collectives to the working board on New Year's Eve; visited, encouraged, and wished Tet to 1,772 workers directly working to serve train operations on New Year's Eve; subsidized 455 workers in difficult circumstances, suffering from serious illnesses, and labor accidents; presented Tet gift bags and presented gifts to 4,129 turns of union members and workers in difficult circumstances;
Humanitarian - charity support, social security, giving gifts to 58 policy families, wounded soldiers in the locality, 41 families affected by the collapse of house 107 Tran Hung Dao; giving Tet gifts to 6, 218 officials and employees of the Parent Company - Vietnam Railways Corporation; directly calling and wishing Tet to 1,127 points and employees working on New Year's Eve throughout the Sector.
The Vietnam Railways Trade Union also supported and donated 87 train tickets to 40 workers, requested the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to support 36 train tickets for 16 workers in difficult circumstances; implemented the Trade Union Tet Market 2026 program for 1,290 people so that union members could buy goods online with a preferential voucher of 500,000 VND/union member.
In early March 2026, the delegation of the Vietnam Railways Trade Union promptly visited workers participating in passenger transfer and overcoming the incident caused by barge NB-8437 ramming and colliding with the Dong Nai Lon bridge girder (Ghenh bridge) at km 1699+860, Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line.
According to leaders of the Vietnam Railways Trade Union, at the grassroots level, the trade union has coordinated with professional departments to visit and give gifts to 171 collectives, 1,310 workers working on New Year's Eve; give gifts to 1,398 collectives, 9,463 workers on Tet duty; give gifts in kind to 169 collectives, 8,594 workers; 1,554 people in difficult circumstances have received Tet allowances; visit 139 policy families, support 58 charity addresses; organize year-end meals for 16,724 workers; support the organization of the Tet reunion program, sports exchange...
The total amount of money spent on care, visits, subsidies, and social - charity activities for the whole sector is 27.865 billion VND.
With the role of standing committee of the "Loving Leaves" Program of Vietnam Railways Corporation, the Vietnam Railways Trade Union coordinated with the Youth Union of Vietnam Railways Corporation to grasp the learning situation and family circumstances of the children, and issued Decisions to transfer the support funds of philanthropists to 62 children supported by the Program with the amount of 103,800,000 VND.
