Vietnam Railway Trade Union admits 1,341 new union members

Attending the congress were Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Dang Sy Manh - Member of the Government Party Executive Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railway Corporation. 157 delegates officially attended the congress.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, term XVI, emphasized that in the 2023-2025 period, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has closely followed the motto "Innovation - Responsibility - Democracy - Solidarity - Development", implementing the Resolution of the 16th Congress with many clear results. The trade union organization has gradually innovated the content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots, considering union members and workers as the center. The work of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers has been carried out more effectively; the role of trade unions in participating in management and accompanying professionals has been increasingly affirmed, contributing positively to the development of enterprises and units in the whole industry.

To continue improving spiritual life, creating motivation to encourage union members and workers to actively work and produce, improve productivity and work quality, contributing to the completion of production and business tasks of the unit and enterprise.

Every year, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has organized union members and workers with outstanding achievements; type 4 and type 5 workers with periodic health check-up results of type 4 or higher; those who have had work-related accidents with the result of losing over 31% of their working capacity to participate in resorts and nursing programs; in 3 years, it has organized 1,037 union members and workers to participate with a total cost of 2.88 billion VND...

The work of developing union members has been given attention, ensuring that workers when signing labor contracts are admitted to the trade union organization. During this period, 1,341 new union members were admitted.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Mr. Dang Sy Manh - Member of the Government Party Executive Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railway Corporation acknowledged and commended the achievements of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union in the past time.

In the coming time, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized that the Vietnam Railway Trade Union needs to continue to promote propaganda, raise awareness among union members and workers, in addition to traditional forms, and need to supplement modern methods of propaganda.

In addition, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union needs to continue to perform well the task of representing and protecting workers' rights in the new context, in which the trade union must participate and have a voice in forming principles and viewpoints on the new governance model of the corporation; participate in building new organizational models, industry structure, restructuring the industry and especially using human resources; promote dialogue and collective bargaining.

The Vietnam Railway Trade Union needs to continue to innovate caring work, ensuring timeliness, thoughtfulness and affection.

Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized that the Vietnam Railway Trade Union needs to participate in improving the quality of human resources, including promoting awareness for union members and workers to study and improve their qualifications in response to new requirements, especially in working style. According to Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, through trade union activities, human resources will be trained and participated in building corporate culture. The trade union needs to include in the agreement training content to improve the qualifications of cadres; promote union members and workers to have the habit of applying science and technology and digital transformation.

The Congress agreed on the number of members of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, term XVII, 2025-2030, as 27 comrades. At the congress, 26 comrades were elected to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, term XVII.

At the first conference of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, term XVII, 2025-2030, 7 comrades were elected to join the Standing Committee; elected Mr. Ha Trong Thang to hold the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, term XVII.
