Gia Lai - After the rapid campaign to rebuild houses for people, the Government continues to implement policies to support people in disaster areas to have more money to buy and repair for Tet.

On January 12, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and the Central Working Group inspected and worked with the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee on the progress and results of the implementation of the "Quang Trung Campaign" - the rapid construction and repair of houses for people affected by storms and floods, and the early rebuilding of shelters before the Lunar New Year 2026.

"No gunshot" campaign reaches the finish line

Reporting at the meeting, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province said that storm No. 13 and the historic flood that occurred in November 2025 caused more than 51,800 houses to be flooded; 28,196 houses to collapse/fall, were severely damaged; killed 5 people, injured 11 people; caused serious damage to socio-economic infrastructure... The total estimated damage is over 11,500 billion VND.

Implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign", Gia Lai province has completed the repair of 27,522 severely damaged houses. Of the total 674 houses that collapsed and needed to be rebuilt, 651 have been completed; 23 houses were built by the people themselves, large-scale, with multi-storey structures, expected to be completed before January 15, on schedule assigned by the Prime Minister.

Colonel Vu Cao Son - Deputy Commander of the Mobile Police (Ministry of Public Security) - said that when implementing the campaign, the police force was responsible for supporting the construction of 419 new houses; in Gia Lai province alone, there were 87 houses and had summarized and handed over to the people on January 8. Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army - said that the total force participating in the campaign was 312,575 officers and soldiers along with 10,543 vehicles, supporting people to repair more than 63,000 damaged houses and rebuild 619 new houses. Up to now, the military has completed the entire campaign on January 10, 5 days ahead of schedule.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, during the implementation process, if there is no urgent response and intervention from the military and police forces, the campaign will hardly be completed on schedule.

In addition, there is the mobilization of all resources of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, all levels, all sectors, and the contribution of businesses and philanthropists to create resources to help people rebuild their home.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Gia Lai province effectively and properly use the allocated budget of more than VND 1,160 billion, including VND 830 billion from the central budget, VND 75 billion supported by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and VND 255 billion from donors, in which priority is given to direct support for the people.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said that the Government and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front have agreed to provide cash support of 10 million VND for each household with collapsed houses and 5 million VND for each household with damaged houses.

"This is a very humane policy. Because after rebuilding the house, people in the flooded areas have nothing left in hand, all the furniture and assets in the house have been swept away and lost. The Vietnam Fatherland Front of the province needs to implement immediately so that people can soon buy essential items to celebrate Tet," the Deputy Prime Minister requested.
