Natural disasters in 2025 cause particularly serious damage

The conference was held on December 26, in Khanh Hoa with the participation of units under the Ministry of Public Security, the Board of Directors of the Public Security of 9 provinces and cities in the Central region, central and local press agencies.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, in 2025, more than 20 storms and tropical depressions will be recorded in the East Sea, surpassing the record of 2017. The total economic damage is estimated at over VND91,000 billion.

In that context, the People's Public Security Force (CAND) continues to affirm its core and shocking role in natural disaster prevention, control and civil defense, directly participating in rescue, ensuring security and order and supporting people to overcome the consequences.

Major General Nguyen Huu Phuoc - Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the historic flood in Khanh Hoa affected 100,700 households, 22 people died, 20 people were injured, 89 houses were completely collapsed, 290 houses were damaged, more than 16,000 hectares of crops were lost, the total estimated damage was over VND5,000 billion.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Police mobilized more than 6,500 officers and soldiers, nearly 800 rescue vehicles and evacuated more than 5,000 households, rescuing more than 3,500 people.

Rapidly deploy the Quang Trung Campaign

Implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign" launched by the Prime Minister from the end of November 2025, the Ministry of Public Security will take the lead in building 429 houses for households that have collapsed and been severely damaged in Ha Tinh, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong.

As of December 25, 2025, dozens of houses have been completed, many localities have reached 7080%. In Khanh Hoa alone, 11/24 houses have been completed and handed over to people.

The Public Security sector strives to hand over 1015 days earlier than planned, helping people stabilize their lives before the Lunar New Year 2026.

In 9 provinces and cities in the Central region, the police force mobilized more than 11,000 officers, soldiers and hundreds of thousands of people to participate in supporting the repair of houses, schools, hospitals, environmental sanitation, and overcoming the consequences of floods.

The Ministry of Public Security highly appreciates the information and propaganda work of the People's Public Security media units and the coordination of the central and local press in promptly and vividly reflecting the image of the Public Security force "forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people".

However, the conference also pointed out some limitations such as: information coordination is not really in-depth, information from the grassroots is sometimes not timely during the peak of natural disasters, the communication work force is still thin, and equipment is limited.

According to Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen - Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, in the coming time, the focus of propaganda will focus on the viewpoints and policies of the Party and State on civil defense, ensuring social security; the results of the "Quang Trung Campaign"...

Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen also emphasized the need to continue to comprehensively innovate information provision, strengthen coordination with the press, proactively occupy cyberspace, create an authentic and active information flow on security and order, civil defense and support for people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
