Hung Kings Commemoration Day and April 30 - May 1 holiday schedule: 62% of opinions support swap

This year's Hung Kings Commemoration holiday falls on Sunday (April 26th of the solar calendar), so workers get compensatory leave on Monday (April 27th). Thus, the total holiday period lasts 3 consecutive days, from April 25th to the end of April 27th.

For the April 30 - May 1 holiday schedule, if applying a fixed Saturday and Sunday holiday regime, employees can take 4 consecutive days off, from April 30 to May 3, including 2 holidays and 2 weekends.

Based on monitoring the reality at enterprises and summarizing opinions from trade union levels, on April 8, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized a wide-ranging survey on the plan to arrange compensatory holidays for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day 2026, attracting the participation of a large number of union members, civil servants, public employees and workers.

According to the updated report until the afternoon of April 9, there have been more than 70,000 comments related to adjusting the holiday schedule during the Giỗ Tổ festival and the April 30 - May 1 holiday. The results show that viewpoints are still quite diverse, but the general trend leans towards supporting the swap plan to extend the holiday schedule.

In which, nearly 62% of survey participants agreed with adjusting the holiday schedule, of which 47.04% expressed "very much desire" and 14.82% "desire". Conversely, 21.68% did not support the change, while 16.46% maintained a neutral stance.

Considering each option, choosing to swap the holiday from April 27 to April 29 received the highest support rate, accounting for 34.83%. The remaining two options have a similar level of choice, including keeping the holiday schedule as prescribed (28.02%) and swapping April 27 to May 2 (28%). In addition, 9.16% of opinions proposed other options.

Survey results show that the need to adjust holiday schedules in a flexible direction is quite clear, as many workers want to have more continuous holidays to rest, regenerate labor and spend time with their families.

Previously, the collection of opinions on the holiday schedule was also implemented by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on social media platforms, in order to find suitable solutions to connect the two major holidays in April into a long holiday, creating more convenience for workers.

With the current accommodation plan, tourists should proactively plan early if they want to participate in short trips, prioritizing nearby destinations to avoid overload during peak seasons. Booking tickets and rooms early also helps limit price increases and service outage, especially during 3-4 consecutive days of vacation.

At the same time, tourists need to closely monitor the holiday schedule and adjustment plans (if any) to flexibly arrange their itinerary, ensuring a convenient and economical experience.
